Steve Blake was in a practice uniform today and didn't look like he had any long-term issues with his sprained left ankle.

MRI results not in yet for Matt Barnes, but Lakers will recall Devin Ebanks from Development League. Barnes = a right knee injury vs. N.O.

Matt Barnes has a torn lateral meniscus in his right knee, will miss several weeks (no official timetable yet). Surgery early next week.

It sounds similar to the injury Farmar had a couple yrs ago if I remember correctly he missed something like 5 or 6 weeks.

No need for a trade last year the Lakers went threw an entire season with and injured Walton and Morrison as their backup SF''s. Walton is healthy now and Ebanks may surprise some people.

Good call, Hopefully you're right brah:
Farmar to undergo knee surgery today
LAKERS FYI
December 24, 2008|Broderick Turner

NEW ORLEANS — It doesn't come as a surprise to the Lakers that point guard Jordan Farmar will have surgery today in Los Angeles to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee.

Though the Lakers didn't announce a timetable for Farmar's return, Coach Phil Jackson estimated that it could be about eight weeks.

Reasonably in my mind's eyes, I'm saying, the All-Star game is somewhere around six weeks," Jackson said about the Feb. 15 game, which is actually 7 1/2 weeks away.

"There's a break in there. Hopefully that would be great for him to be back around that time."

The procedure will be performed by Dr. Clarence Shields of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Group, a Lakers spokesman said.

Farmar saw team doctor Steve Lombardo and Los Angeles knee specialist Byron Patterson on Monday, and both recommended surgery.

Farmar, averaging 7.9 points and 2.4 assists in 19.6 minutes, was injured late in the fourth quarter of Friday night's game in Miami after he stole the ball and went in for a layup.
"

I think he was out less than a month

Just makes the season a little harder to get thru. Hope LO has no real sholder problems. Walton will get some minutes. Not sure if that is a good thing or not. Ebanks, this is your shot. Lets see Phil not play him as he always does with young players. Maybe he will have to this time around.

No Jordan missed only 3 weeks, that type of injury has a prognoses of 4-6 weeks. But depending on how aggressive you attack your rehab, you can beat the time table even with minor surgery to the damaged area.

Not really going to over react to this, we have depth at that position even if we have to play Luke which I think is what he needs to get a good rhythm again. It'll be more minutes that Ron has to play, which will also help him too. Then recalling Devin is isn't as bad as people wanna make it to be. Devin can play, Phil just has to trust him, hell in my opinion he didn't hurt us when he played anyway.

IIRC the meniscus shouldn't take too long to heal in any case. At least it wasn't a ligament.

Damn, this does hurt but we have a good enough team to hold down the fort until Matty comes back.
Ron Ron needs to continue being aggressive like he has been these past couple games.

Wishing Matt a Speedy and Sucessful Recovery.
I also think he'll be back to one hundred sooner than we all expect.
He's a warrior .
