Why No Melo Chatter?

I'm just surprised the media and the fans haven't been thinking aloud about Melo. Melo wants to follow the Lebron, Bosh, Wade formula it seems in a big city. He could play in LA as part of the Gasol/Kobe/Melo tripod. I'm just surprised nobody is really bringing it up.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. I mean, we totally have the right pieces to trade for him as well. Luke Walton and Steve Blake + 2nd round for Melo.

You must not look hard enough.

And it would be Luke Walton + Derek Fisher + 2nd rounder for Melo.

We would have to give up alot more than that.Have to give up ron and lo and draft picks. It realy depends on if denever is stilling trying to hold playoff spot this year. If so id say we have to trade ron and lo and draft and future draft picks. Gasol, kobe , melo It would be alot for the spurs to handle.

The Nuggets had a pretty good package in place with the Nets (Favors, Harris, Picks..) but it appears the snag was them taking Al Harrington or swaping Balkman for James. As a team forced into rebuild mode you couldn't expect them to take on Artest's contract.

What I meant by chatter is all the national attention has gone to NJ, NYK, and Chi.

The nuggets are still a playoff team .And still be on with lo and ron for the next 2 years and rebuild on the fly. Thats how consisntaly good teams stay in the playoffs year after year.

Kenyon Martin and JR Smith will be free agents this summer. The Billups contract is only partially guaranteed so he's getting waived. Nene has an ETO which he'll probably take advantage of even with the CBA this summer. Afflalo will be unresticted. That leaves Lawson who'd be staying and Harrington, Birdman, and Balkman who Denver is trying to include in trades.

as much as you hate to shake up a championship team... Kobe and Melo are buddies... Kobe is ring chasing Jordan... adding Melo would extend the championship winning window for him. The lakers don't have a bunch of high picks or expiring deals but they do have Andrew Bynum.

Uhh, Pau Gasol trade? Who really thought the Lakers had the pieces (outside of Kobe or Bynum) to pry Pau Gasol away from the Grizzlies? There was literally no talk about getting Gasol until the morning the trade took place.

I bet he stays in Denver and walks as a free agent at the years end.

^ IMO the chances he opts out and then signs with a team other than Denver are small. Here is why... he wants his extension now for two reasons (the coming CBA, and if he opts out he can't get as much from other teams). Also the Knicks are projected to not have enough for a max deal this summer and Cleveland is the only team willing to take salary and they wanted 2 first rounders to take a contract in a deal. The knicks don't have the picks to make that happen.

So he either signs the extension, gets traded to a rent-amelo team, gets traded before the deadline and signs the extension, doesn't opt out, or opts out and asks Denver for a S&T.

What expiring contracts do we have this time? Kwame had the biggest in the league at the time if I recall correctly. People forget that.
