Mitch is considering a trade.

"Regarding a trade, I may have to," Kupchak said at the team's practice facility a day after the convincing loss to their heated rivals, the Celtics. "I'm not saying that I've made calls today or I'll make them tomorrow. But I just don't think that we're playing as well as our talent level should allow us."

Thoughts?

He'll trade Artest before he trades Fish or Luke, I think.

Artest would probally be the one. Maybe fisher but i think kobe would be to happy about lossing his wing man.And mitch IS SO RIGHT. We are not playing the way our talents should be. I think artest beacause he still hasnt figured out the lakers triangle. And im seeing LUKE WALTON get subbed in for him more and more. Yes barnes is injuried but for luke? How about give ebanks a chance.

puttin some fire under their asses maybe?

Realistically what trades are out there that would benefit us? Not many that are even possible.

Upgrade via Pau?
What can you get that is better?
Dirk - no happenening
Dwight - not this year and not for Pau
Bogut - maybe but Mil isn't trading him

Upgrade via Bynum?
Basically the same list and result

Ron + Assets?
Who is gong to take them and for what?

LO might be able to get us something, but he's the only other guy besides Kobe keeping this thing running, and he's just too valuable to us considering how he's playing and his knowledge of the tri and his locker room value.

Brown and assets?
Maybe but for what?

Some possibilities I'd consider but are highly unlikely:
Pau/Artest/Rooks for Billups/Mello
not ideal but it would be fun. Motivated Mello can defend pretty damn well and it would make us harder to guard. Billups would fit the tri nicely.

Pau or Drew or LO and Artest for Mello/Nene
unlikely but keeps size depth and gets Mello

same deal for CP3 and Okafor
Makes our SF a little thin, though I'd be ok with Barnes starting and developing ebanks. This would be fun.

same deal for Deron and Millsap/AJ
Similar, would be fun. Deron + Kobe = competitive fire

Pau for Bogut
Similar skillsets, Bogut a little more limited offensively though not much, but a much tougher better defender and rebounder. I think him and Drew down low would be a load, he's a really good passer and smart to pick up the tri fast.

Brown, Artest, and the rooks for Prince and TMac
Both of those guys would fit nicely, Prince would be a great SF for us, shoots it well, defends, rebounds and can create/move the ball. TMac as well, yeah he's old but he's playing well and would be a better fit then Brown imo. He actually passes and creates and I just have a feeling he'd play his ass off come playoff time.

Pau + assets for ZBo and Mayo? lol the return to Memphis? Pau lets his bro bang while he does the finesse work? lol

These are all highly highly unlikely and debatable if they even help us in some cases.

Wtf else is out there? I just don't see any more moves.

We do have that trade exemption, I just don't see what he'd actually be looking at in a realistic term.

The reason I don't think Artest is on the block is because we have barnes. instead of making a trade why not just move barnes into starting lineup? It doesn't make sense. There's no way we can trade artest for a wing player better than barnes.

One thing I didn't consider is that artest will blow up at the team if he's forced to come off the bench? I really think the guy has moved past this and I really do think he'd accept that role now.

I would imagine Minosota is a target as a potential trade partner, since they run the triangle. Hence, there would be less of a learning curve for the incoming player. Maybe the trade exception + 2011 2nd round pick for Martell Webster? Webster is a 37% three point shooting small forward that has triangle experience, is friends with Kobe and is still young! Ebanks or Character could also be included in such a trade. Other targets could be Ariza, Duhon, Hinrich. Am I leaving anybody out?

Maybe Johnny Flynn too? Young fresh legs , could help with the defense.

As much as I think it might be time for a trade, Mitch is just trying to light a fire under this team...

When is the last time he broadcast his intentions? Like never... We usually know about him working the phones after the trade goes down.

That said, if he was going to trade, Artest, Brown, Blake, would be my guess... And I doubt we could trade any of them.

If an absolute steal of like Dwight proportions came around, I could see Bynum going, but only for something nutty-special.

Steve Mason and John Ireland were talking about this today on 710 espn radio. The article is suppose to be legit and was written by a former Los Angeles Laker beat writer...or a least of former Los Angeles writer...I cant remember. But I pretty much believe anything John Ireland says in regards to the lakers. He said he also knows that every time a team calls the lakers its for two guys, Bynum or LO. John said he didnt think this was Mitch trying to pump fear in the team because its not his style. That Mitch was a straight shooter, and I kinda agree with that.

Helps a lot with our athleticism but who do you give up to get him?

If its Bynum or Odom don't think that makes us any better.

We're constantly killed in the PG position, i thought the acquisition of Blake would solve that. But it hasn't happened yet. As mediocre as Blake is, its still not good enough. Someone earlier threw a a name out. Kirk Hinrich. . Im not sure if you guys will agree on this, but yes: Blake for Hinrich

Another thing i see coming is getting Joe Smith or Luke out soon. Not sure how Mitch will do this, but considering we only signed Theo for a year - he'll likely stick with us then retire.

Mitch just may be talking smack trying to light a fire underneath the players.
