Anyone else not crazy about the "Max and Marcellus" Show?

First of all, for non-locals, this is our new radio show on AM 710 (main slot: 10:00 AM-2:00 PM).

Someone please explain to me this: You pair together a New York guy (Max Kellerman) who's background revolved around Boxing, and then you pair him up with another guy (Marcellus Wiley) who's background revolved around football, and then you put them together to talk about Los Angeles sports, which is dominated by Lakers talk. They can sometimes be entertaining, but they are essentially a national talk radio show who happen to talk about the Lakers more often. It just seems like they know next to nothing about the Lakers. I understand that you will not always have someone from the area to talk about the local teams, but I'm not really feeling these guys.

I MUCH preferred the previous show with Mychal Thompson and Andrew Siciliano (and to some extent, the original "Loose Cannons"), and hate that they got rid of it/them.

The 12-3 slot has been bad for a long time on both stations. Kellerman is close to terrible. Wiley was good for a few weeks talking football, but can't contribute much else.

Funny you mentioned this I emailed the program director for a second time this month, this morning complaining about the show asking for pull the plug on this show.

570 has all the radio talent, they should steal Ben Mahler from 570, dudes on like once a week at night or something; that was my suggestion.

Mason should give John 1/2 his salary. Mason couldn't survive anywhere until he joined John.

Stephen A...He went on the Dan Patrick show and admitted his own mother told him to gear down and stop being so obnoxious, I loved that. Plus didn't he break the Miami Trio story and then ESPN stole it because Stephen A no longer worked for them. They gave it to Chris Broussard like it was his own break. Stephen A thinks Boston's gonna win it all no doubt where he wasn't sure prior to Game 1 vs. Boaton, change of tune Stephen A?

Anybody listened to the Joe Mcdonal Doug Krikorian show.

It was my favorite sports talk show when I use to live in LA

Everyone disses Stephen A., yeah he is a little rough but he speaks the truth and he broke the Bron, Bosh & Wade in Miami. No one gives him credit to this day for breaking that.

Why would they get a New Yorker to speak about Los Angeles sports. Thats like getting a Los Angelino to speak about all things New York. That's rather insensitive. Anywhere but from NYC! Unless they just had slim pickin's or maybe they took the lowest bidder.

I listen to AM 570 when I am home in SoCal and via internet when I am back in Kentucky. I miss the old Loose Cannons. But Rome and PMS are my faves.

To be honest, I actually don't mind Stephen A Smith as much, and actually kind of like him. The fact of the matter is that Kellerman and Wiley come from Boxing and Football. Period.

Stephen A. is pretty knowledgeable about basketball, and much of his past work has been around it.

Blame the stupid ass program director......they have a knack for hiring guys who have no connection to LA what so ever.

When Stephen A guest-hosted on Kellerman's show it was actually tolerable. They had a weird/good NY chemistry going on. And Stephen A made up for where Max was lacking in bball knowledge.

I love Kellerman as boxing analyst guy, but that show is absolutely terrible. It's a waste of radio time in a big market. I don't know what kind of contract they have but I don't see them lasting at all. I'm almost embarrassed for these guys sometimes, for the stupid thongs that they say. Plus, these guys are insulting to the true NBA/MLB fan. I don't care about the fact thT Kellerman is from NY, I just don't like his general lack of sports knowledge.

LA's sports radio were 10x more enjoyable before the merge of 1150 and 690.

The Loose Cannon with Steve and Bill back in the 690 days was also a lot better than the current version. I also like the whole kick out of LA from McDonald and Douglas show. Even Hacksaw is more tolerable than the crap on 570 nowadays. Not to mention the late night show with Lee Kline (sp?) and Jorge Sedano afterwards were great.

Damn do I miss those days.

Man I hope Joe's doing OK he and his family history was full of health problems. Yeah the last time the Cannons were good was when Mychael was on and before that it was great with Bill Werndel, Steve is intolerable now and his guest host are nearly as bad. 12-3 slot is a mess, that's a prime time slot isn't it?

I've been going to the all star festivities this weekend. Stephen A. Seemed like a nice guy, took a few minutes to talk hoops, very cordial . That's the key to finding out about a person, how do the act when nobody is looking. I met a lot of people this week, pau , pat riley, Jerry and Jeanie buss, worthy, Cooper, bill Walton. Everyone was nice, with one exception...bill Russell. It was just him and I with no one around, all I said was " hi mr Russell" , he didn't look at me, he replied " I don't sign anything!!!" .. My only reply was " I wasn't asking you to!". Huge jerk, then he steps out to the spotlight and becomes this laughing happy fellow, what a fake!!!!!!

I thought most big men from that era are mean people. Kareem and Wilt were pretty reclusive for fans from what I read.

Yeah I have heard the same about Russell but I am surprised to hear the rumors are true about him. Such a shame. I think Stephen A. plays it up on TV.

Gawd don't let me get started on celebs and sport stars REFUSING to sign things that's bull$h!t in my opinion. Never understood that.

lee klein is one of my favs all time...he was on 830 for awhile,,,i think gone now...but i hated sedano, he was a massive dwayne/heat homer and miserable laker/kobe hater...

i agree with the above, if 710 was smart theyd get maller to be one their big shows, however espn is too corporate and any ben maller show would suck on that station...from listening to la sports radio, almost all of these guys have worked for espn at some point, and almost none of them seem like they want to go back, they always say the money was nice, but thats it...ya gotta be a real company man to work there, apparently...

MAX AND MARCELLUS BLOWS!!!!

All kinds of NBA trades going down right now and they're talking pop-culture.

What a joke.

Why must we be subjected to these morons on the daily?

Max was actually better when he was just by himself.
