I was thinking.. why does shannon brown suck so bad? I apologize in advance if this subject or the reason i give have been discussed.
You have the best player in the league (in many eyes) in Kobe, and you play the same position as him. I mean shannon looked so promising last year and in the beginning of this year. why does he suck so bad? the reason that i thought of was... kobe has been resting/taking off practice right? so kobe hasnt been making shannon a better player in practice. its not like shannon gets huge minutes off the bench (not saying he doesnt have a big role). so he has pressure to produde in a set amount of time.. but he doesnt have a world class player pushing him and polishing him to be a better player. any thoughts?

Because he has the BBIQ of a Walnut, or Andray Blatche.

cos he's playing for a contract.

every year he's been a laker, his agent has repeatedly signed him for relatively small amount with a player option for the 2nd year.

which means as he continues to "improve", each year would be a moderate pay rise

i don't think he sucks, thats way too harsh.

he has some gaping holes in his game, but he doesn't suck at all. probably worth twice what he gets paid.

He just makes bad decisions a lot, especially running the fast break.

Shannon Brown is a fantastic athlete but he's not born a basketball player.

Someone like Tyler Hansbrough is not a great athlete but he was born and raised to be a basketball player.

shannon is just hot right now just like sasha in his machine days. he takes a lot of ill advised shots....and he makes them unfortunately. this is one of the reasons why are rotation have been inconsistent this year, but you can't blame phil for playing him, you ride a player that's on fire/making shots.

but once those 25 footers stop going in and hes just making dumb plays left and right I expect threads like this 3-5 times a week.

I hate it when he starts dribbling the ball and starts to ISO and does a step back jump shot.

his shot has deminished and he has become a chucker now, NOT good! While I dont care much for Brewer shooting I would hope we make a push for him to either put presser on Brown to play better or Brewer can come in and do what Shannon/Ariza did during their intial pressence on the team.

When we won the championship, they did a interview with Shannon Brown, asking on what his intentions were. He said he wanted to continue with the Lakers and show that he could do alot more than just dunk. He was pretty drunk at the time, slurring everywhere, but you could see he wanted to prove something. I think a big part of the motivation is money. So naturally he's gonna play like most contract year players do.

Also, I think the shooting earlier in the year has gotten to his head, and now he ball stops, dribbles way too much, and takes shots (and sometimes makes them) that aren't the product of a good team offense.

He's still good though, but I would be hesitant to give him a long term deal.

So I'm not alone here when I say that I'm not a fan of his 100mph fast breaks that lead to him either committing a charge or going to the corner with nowhere to go and turning it over after he picks up his dribble?

Compared to Luke Walton, he is Jordan-esque.

You peepz are too harsh on baby-kobe. He clearly improved by a lot. More than I would expect... How many bench players acquire a "money 3 shot" in a single off season? He's shooting 38% from 3 and 90% from the FT line. That's better than Bitchyacic got in all his seasons here except one and Brown's upside is much bigger...

He's using his athleticism on D (getting steals, causing TOs and deflecting lots of balls). Also he's learning how to keep in front of the ball-handler without committing stupid/unnecessary fouls, which is a big improvement over what we had in the past (farmar and bitchyaticic). he still a bad defender but he's improving!

and he did this in less than a full season. Obviously, he remains a low IQ bballer.

He shoots too much and his timing is bad. I'm aware of this, but I'm confident he'll improve even more in the next off season. Still the Shannon Brown of today is already arguably the most productive lakers when comparing what he produces on the court to the salary he receives.

Our "scouters" need to inform him that he CAN'T MAKE ANY LONG SHOT OFF THE DRIBBLE or PnR. Even when he's completely open he can't make them... If he erases this shot from his game he'll improve his efficiency by a lot.

He needs to attack the rim all the time off the dribble. He have the athleticism to do this and Refs will start giving him credit when he drives with aggression.

But yeh even if you hate him Shannon will continue to take most of the outside shots when leading our second-unit... Because we don't have much firepower and he's the baby-kobe afterall

I'm with you on this 1 cash. His BB I.Q. is just not that high. Plus he was just only a dunker that learned how to shoot. Like anyone else he reverts back to whatever he knows how to do best & now that he has a decent jumper he throws it up when in doubt. So now he has to form more of his all around game.
