is anyone else not nervous about the playoffs?
even if we drop to number 4 seed....i can't see any western conf. team beating us in 7 games whether we are on the road or not, as long as we take better shots, hustle, and rebound when we need rebounds...and hopeully pau starts asserting his will more.....i mean who's gonna beat us?...we've already blown these teams out at their homes when we came to play.....the only team i'm worried about facing is the heat....chicago can't fudge with us, neither can celtics....and the thunder are too small / perkins isn't all that without garnett and the crew to back him up......i don't see how he handle's bynum if we actually let bynum go to work.....

Re: is anyone else not nervous about the playoffs?
Part of me wants to see this team get hammered in the ass for playing so nonchalantly at various stretches of the regular season. Nothing pisses me off more than a bunch of overpaid millionaires slacking off and not playing up to their potential each night. It's a real slap in the face to us fans who go out of their way to watch each and every game.
I'm entirely too pissed off at this team to have any room for nervous feelings. Whatever happens happens.

Re: is anyone else not nervous about the playoffs?
I go back and forth about this... On the one hand, I too have a hard time seeing any team in the West beating this Lakers team 4 times out of 7.
But then at times, I have a hard time seeing this Lakers team beat any team in the West 4 times out of 7.
I do feel like we've kind of been sandbagging to various degrees all season. But the focus scares me...
We have to stay focused and raise our game to the next level for the next couple months. We haven't stayed focused that long all year.
I get the feeling that this team sees itself kind of like the Media portrays it... The wily Veteran team that has the playoffs and finals figured out. That's a dangerous mind-set to be in...
I think Kobe and crew think they can come in and be that tough, defensive, vet team and punch teams in the mouth and get in their head.
That's great to me, and I hope they can do it... My fear is that we aren't the Celtics, and what happens if we punch a team in the mouth and all the calls go against us? Or if that doesn't happen, what happens when a team like Denver or maybe even OKC come in and punch US in the mouth?
And my biggest worry is actually Kobe...
Because he's not sure what he wants to be this year...
Part of the time he looks like he did last year when he wanted to come in and facilitate but was there to take over the game when he needs to.
-I think this is the perfect role for him. Play solid D. Draw double teams. Score in buckets if they disrespect him.... Only problem is, I've seen Kobe miss more wide-open shots this year than I think I've ever seen. I'm not sure he even warrants that many double teams anymore.
Part of the time he looks like he wants to be that cagey vet star that's slightly over the hill but can get in you head and face and the Refs will let him get away with it.
-Problem is, the Refs AREN'T letting him get away with it, and as soon as the other guy makes some shots, gets physical back, or mouths off, Kobe looses it and starts forcing shots. He also likes to dare his opponent to take shots... This year they're making them. He needs to stick to his man on D.
But part of the time he looks like the guy who wants to take over the game and score every time down the court.
-This is clearly the wrong move for him at this stage in his career. His outside shots aren't falling like they used to. His handles aren't what they used to be. And he can't elevate over defenders to finish +1s like he used to.
All that is to say, I'm not nervous... But I'm EXTREMELY curious how the first round goes.

Yea I am because I don't know what laker team is going show up. The 16-1 or 5 straight loss laker team to end the season. A win at the spurs would help wonders. We need a win or 4th seed here we come!

I'm never nervous about the playoffs, we had all season to get right and this team just slacked off all year. That 17-1 stretch was the best we played all year. If we win great, if we lose so be it. They'll take it as a lesson learned.

I might watch a game in person if we play Memphis in 1st round. That's all I care about for now.

I HATE when we embarrass ourselves..I mean there is a reason you play and it's for the fans. If there were no fans these guys would be janitors. These punks need a swift kick in the ass, thats what I think.
Phil is even being absent minded he can't even motivate these guys. I don't care if you are a 20 year vet, you're still human and have emotions and what boost each and every person's performance is motivation which we seriously lack...

Nobody said 3peating would be easy, are they playing crap.. of course but same thing last year as well and we know how that ended. But I agree with dcash to much uncertainty this late so we don't know who we even gonna play.

The losing streaks are irritating, but part of you wants to see them get hammered in the playoffs? Will you or anyone else really give a damn about regular season malaise if they're hoisting a trophy in June?
It's annoying but... I'll be saving the heart attacks for the postseason.

no, not least until the 2nd rd lol......Id be nervous then but that also depends on what happens in the 1st rd....if we get pushed to 7 by whoever it would make me even more nervous for the 2nd rd.

Re: is anyone else not nervous about the playoffs?
I'm actually pretty confident going into the playoffs this year, last year I felt much more dim about our chances, but now that I've seen this team can step it up pretty much on a whim, I'm not as concerned. The bench will get its minutes cut in half come playoff time, and bynum and kobe are healthy, especially bynum - so that's a huge vote of confidence right there compared to last year.

Re: is anyone else not nervous about the playoffs?
I would say I'm sort of nervous. Many of you say " well remember how last year ended", hate to break it to you all but this isn't last year. Every game after beating the Mavs it seems like the Lakers are playing with no effort regardless of who their opponent is. This kind of piss poor " were better than everyone" attitude is just plain stupid. Like Phil said you can't just all of a sudden go from playing terrible to playing amazing basketball in a matter of one night.
I don't even think I will care much if we don't win out this year, this poor effort has really pissed me off.

not worried even if they drop to #8 seed. I'll be worried once they fall down 0-3 to any opponent.

It's just been a strange year. We've gone from awesome to crap to awesome and now back to crap again. Not like we haven't seen the Lakers cruise before, but this season has to take the cake for sheer inconsistency.
I honestly have no idea what to expect at this point. Which makes it sort of exciting in a perverse way.

I don't mean losing a playoff series (that would suck, of course), just getting stomped on in a game real good so that they are thoroughly embarrassed.

Hmmm, possibly... lol. I guess in a way what I want to happen would be considered Karma, but Buddhists tend to not wish bad things on anyone, which I certainly have no problem doing.
