You guys all know the drill. PLAYOFF BASKETBALL! We have a great mixture of vets & rookies on our board this go round. We do this every year so the old heads don't have to keep reading if they don't want to.

Have your skills sharpened & ready. Don't get yourselves suspended or waived over something stupid. Our mods here do a great job of keeping the trolls out but remember a visitor doesn't necessarily mean troll.

Be respectful when visiting other teams boards. They dont mind you talking a little trash every now & then as long as you keep it in perspective.

Let's all me on the active roster when we bring this 3Peat home!

I have the exact same feeling about the playoffs as last'year. We'll see. Last year title was important for everyone, but this one will be huuge imho.

some extra tips-
stay out of the General Board if possible. the trolling factor is very high and you will get sucked into petty arguments and get suspended. You must have strong self control to even read any thread about the Lakers there let along to respond to the myriads of hateful-ignorant anti Lakers posts. best advise I can give the new guys on our board is to stay away from the general board altogether during the playoffs.

the Denver board will let you trash talk a bit (they like to play the rape card still), but I advice not to bother cause it is so easy to go over the line in the heat of the moment. (see Kobe paying a 100K fine)

Dallas fans will talk trash so if you have a problem with what they're saying report it. don't feed the trolls.

Portland fans...have they made playoffs in the last ten years? we'll see what happens

San Antonio fans are generally classy so be classy and respectful with them.

OKC and NO do they have fans? kidding!!!

if we make it to the finals
Miami fans think they already won...just kidding! seriously they can be just as homerish as some Lakers fans, but there are also some very cool posters and I welcome their inputs any time. the bad ones will be bad so report them.

Bulls fans- not so sure how they are. they have gotten into epic trash talk battles with Knicks fans and Cavs fans, but we'll have to play it by ear.

Celtics fans- there is always a certain kind of respect with them and trash talking with them is usually very diplomatic and humorous from either side (yeah, they have a case to humble us 17>16, hopefully not for long), but of course there is always that moron on either side that will get banned or suspended.

The reason for all this "tips" is not to take away any fun, it is to keep you guys from getting suspended or worse waived from realgm.

might just be me but i don't think he's baiting.

anywhoo, staying off the general board is probably a good idea for some, especially if you've racked up some warnings and are on thin ice.

Ehhhhh I was being serious. Every single year over at ClubLakers it's always a bunch of clowns from other teams acting dumb. This summer it was a bunch of bandwagon Heat fans, last year it was Celtic fans who have only been "fans" since '08 and before that it was a bunch of LBJ nut huggers. Today there was some doofus named "Bayouhornetscajun" who was trying to troll us. Yeah...a Hornets troll. Who'd have thought?

In any case I was being entirely serious. For the most part the Laker fans I've seen post here at RealGM are pretty stand up members and I doubt many of the 29 other team boards have a thread similar to this one asking folks to behave. I've lurked here for a while and I still remember there being a few Boston fans who were talking smack here last year during the playoffs. I've always felt that the Lakers were one of if not the classiest organization in the NBA and I was complimenting both the team and the fan base when I said what I said.

This'll be my third playoff run here, it's always fun ;D If Lakers threepeat so do I! in a way. haha

IMO, just stay off the General Board.I never even bothered until last season and...I kinda still wish I hadn't. It's your call, just be prepared.

Seriously though I appreciate everybody looking out for me, as some of the mods may know I recently took another hit (suspension) on the GB where all my put downs have come from. Snaq is right though for the new guys here, the GB is probably the most heated and most intense board on this forum and it straight up gets personal.


But in my opinion some of my suspensions have been pretty petty and that's real talk. One time I got suspended for calling a "player" a name....not a poster who's actually on the board but a player no less. Bottom line is this though rules are rules and we must abide by them no matter the gray area. I have a lot of friends on this board but also other team boards where I'm warmly received and respected. Boards like Portland, Denver, San Antonio and even Boston's!

But as far as this playoff run, don't worry fellas no GB for me once it starts Saturday !
