FA's G.Hill, K.Mart, or AK47?

Post#1 » by spree8 » Tue May 3, 2011 3:52 pm

I know it's still playoff time, but watching this team (Lakers are my fav squad next to the Knicks) I can't help but notice how much help the bench needs. Out of the 3 guys listed, who do you guys think would be the best fit for the Laker bench?

AK is the most well-rounded player, so I'd take him pretty easily. He'd be a really good fit for this team, actually.

So are we completely closing to door on any chance of getting a shooter with young legs and lateral quickness, then?

I know finances suck and all, but I think we need some energy off the bench not more 'Veteran Leadership and Smarts'...

Don't get me wrong, all of those guys have their place, but I vote "None of the above."

How about JR Smith?

I actually thought about him when I was typing this... The only thing that scares me about him is he seems like he dumb as a stump and prone do making his own decisions on the court.

We have a pretty complicated system that requires guys to play a specific role... I'm not sure it's the right fit for him.

Aside from that he annoys the hell out of me... He's the one played I'd most like to punch... 8-)

But then again, Barnes used to be one of those guys for me too...

not sure what his status is, RFA or Non but how does Marcus Thorton sound? He is already use to coming off the bench, money wise he is a 2nd rd pick so best offer I see him getting is MLE, now would he rather MLE from the Kings or the Lakers? :D

I can't be the only one who saw "F A Gs" in the title.

I like AK... when he's not dead and crying about something. Any little thing and he'll be hurt.
K-Mart on this team would be a great clean-up guy, dude who will play defense and annoy the hell out of the other team.
Hill I like, but super old.. still right now he actually is less of an injury risk than the other two.

So final answer, iono

Co-sign. The biggest problem with our bench is the ability to score consistently when Kobe (and sometimes Pau) sits down. Hill, IMO, is the best scorer of that trio, but he's pretty seasoned, and I'd rather see someone younger come aboard.

as some posters said, I would also want to see Hill get a chance to play in a serious contender (no offense PHX). but I'm not sure who will fit better, Hill or AK.

was about to post this in the Official Transaction Ideas Thread: http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/213478/Nene_May_Opt_Out_Of_Contract_This_Summer

Nene said Monday he is strongly considering opting out of the final season of his six-year, $60 million contract, which would pay him $12 million, and testing the free-agent market.

I say get Grant and Nene!

2nd unit:
PG: Jonson
SG: Brown
SF: Hill
PF: Odom
C: Nene

wait... somehow it doesn't look good. :-?

If as it was reported a few weeks ago Barnes doesn't opt out the Lakers won't be going after any Sf's. PG is the position the Lakers need to improve at the problem is there isn't much out there.

Dwight and just Dwight has to be priority number one. CP3 is number 2. Concerning roleplayers, I really love Grant Hill, he's amazing, but we wont win a ring next year if we just add Grant
