No reason to be upset
3 straight Finals
2 rings
How many teams in the history can say that?
Going to 4 straight Finals would have been nice but that's next to impossible.
I'm really proud of Odom, Gasol, Bynum, Fisher, and Kobe even though we got blown out. They have just played too much basketball in the last 3 years.
Yes, Gasol sucked this playoffs but let's not forget what he brought to the table in the last 3 years. He turned our franchise around.
I'm happy for the Mavericks but I'm still proud of the Lakers.

Re: No reason to be upset
There are plenty of things to be upset at it. Losing is one of them, but losing in itself is not why I am upset. These are the reasons I am upset.
1. Lack of defensive effort and execution.
This team is capable of playing defense at a high level, possibly the highest in the league. The 2010 team that battled the Celtics made crisp rotations, contested every shot, and knew where they were going and what they were doing. This team that i've watched over the past week did not. And half of it was pure lack of effort. That is unacceptable.
2. Losing two home games in a row. Embarrassing.
3. Losing double-digit leads in 2 games, as a veteran team with the "best closer" in the world on the court. Dallas played like the veteran team. LA played like bumbling neophytes, LITERALLY giving the ball away on crucial possessions.
4. Kobe isn't Kobe anymore, but the team still runs like he is. Until he himself and the next coach come to that realization and adjust the offense sets accordingly, it will hurt the team at inopportune times.
5. Pau Gasol played the worst 10 game stretch of his career, and we still don't know why, or what to do about it.
Our players either weren't themselves mentally or physically, and our team as a whole folded like a team who had lost all of its hunger would.
In the end, I get the feeling that everyone isn't AS angry that we didn't win, as we are at how we lost. I certainly don't speak for all of the posters here so pardon me if this is wrong, but its how I personally feel. There are many, many reasons to be upset. And for me almost none of them have to do with the Lakers not being in the finals this year.

Re: No reason to be upset
bad timing op. I get what you're trying to do but people are still very upset. and I'm assuming not entirely because we lost, but the way the Lakers performed.
but guys. take it easy. the op's just trying to be positive. and I'm 100% sure any team that's still alive in the playoffs would exchange their current positions now for the 3 year run that we had. we went to the finals 3 straight years and got two championships.
imo we're just gassed out. same thing happened in 03 when we lost to the spurs. tell me a team that went to the finals 4 straight years? lesson learned. we'll get some rest (finally), retool, get a pointguard, and we will go back to the promise land next year. I guarantee you that!

Sure you did. You tried to use it as your UN for your second account, but you found out it was taken and decided to use "kirasama".
I am not proud for this season. I appreciate the accomplishments over the past two years but this year cannot be forgiven. All that talk about them still believing that they're in the series and they come out in the most important game of the entire season, get down a little bit and just fold. It's sickening, and how you could be acceptable of a 2x defending champion going out with such a lack of heart is beyond me. I'm over the loss but don't expect me to be acting like this is acceptable because it isn't.

Exactly how I feel. Not really upset (See: 2004 Pistons + 2008 Celtics) but disappointed. I know this team is/was capable of playing better and knows how to win, just couldn't get it together for whatever reason.
Thank you, Phil.

Re: No reason to be upset
meh. cant win them all.
lakers have pretty damn good strike rate when it comes to championships.
i think the lakers reload and compete next year (much like in 2004 after 3 straight finals trips and a loss to SAS)

Re: No reason to be upset
Yeah we'll be OK, we'll make some slight moves and more than anything we get that "hunger" back. In basketball you have to play with an edge. We haven't had that in the last 2 years. First order of business will be dealing with Gasol/Kobe.... girlfriend/ wife BS. We can't have this off court BS getting in the way of winning titles.

karl malone/gary payton-esq off season coming up, just like 2003? wishful thinking of course, but we're always in search of the 'next one'.

I would do a Gasol, Artest, Blake, and picks for Blatch, Lewis, Young and 4th

Re: No reason to be upset
Rockets fan here. I have to admit, seeing as how Houston is not in the Playoff picture, I am on the Memphis bandwagon. However I hate Dallas, and even though I didn't really want the Lakers to win this year, I DID want you beat Dallas.
I really have no problem with the Lakers, hell, you have pretty much had the best team in the NBA for the last 4 years. However, I was pretty dissapointed with your game 4 performance, (as I am sure many of you are.) It wasn't so much your losing the gme and the series, but more so those cheap shots by Odom, and especially the one by Bynum. It kind of made you look like a bunch of spoiled children, that were sooking because they couldn't get their way. I think this reflects really badly on the Lakers franchise.
Good luck for next season, (if there is a season!)

I can't see Washington doing that. Even with Gasol their team would still suck. May as well roll the dice on a much younger player in the draft.
