The Boston Celtics ... Our Top Off-Season Competition!

Post#1 » by The_Trade_Seer » Fri May 13, 2011 3:35 pm

We all know the Lakers have some major moves to make ... so do the Boston Celtics.

While there are many teams in the L with more money than either the Celts or Lakers have, they will be focusing on higher dollar FA's like Nene, Marc Gasol, etc.

The MLE, LLE and Vet Min contract players and possibly those who are cut thanks to the new proposed CBA rule are the ones that BOTH the Lakers and Celtics will be targeting.

The Mavs are loaded and the Heat look like they will win the title this year and not many FA's like to just jump on a title winning team's bandwagon .... but they will love helping resurrect the great Lakers and Celtics franchises.

We lost out on Troy Murphy (not that he did anything) to the Celts this year and on Peja to the Mavs (man was that a mistake) and our competition will be tough.

The Celtics are looking to really retool around their big 4 and are even talking about some of their old guys coming off the bench or at least playing lot less minutes ... which means they may be offering (at least in word only) better playing time to prospective FA's than the Lakers will.

So in this thread I'd like to hear who you think the Celtics will taret, what they'll do and how that wll impact the Lakers.

Luckily they aren't in the market for a pg, we are, so they aren't our main competition.

They need a C. We have a C. We need a PG. They have a PG.

Bynum for Rondo would just be funny.

With Joe Smith and Theo Ratliff off the roster. There is 2 open spots to fill. Was this Luke Waltons final game as a Laker. So many things can and will happen. Who will coach. PG. Other roster spots. Bench.

We need a pg. Hinrich hopefully.

How about Baron Davis? Maybe could be had for some crap we dont want. I know he's had some weight issues. But maybe coming to the lakers he can get motivated and lose some lbs and come prepared to play. We could also trade maybe luke, artest if the lakers wanna get out of his contract. Or maybe even Steve Blake. No sense having 3 pg's being paid good money.
