It Was A Fun Season Guys

This is the 1st season since i've been on realgm that the Lakers didn't make the Finals. It's inevitable that any teams run has to come to an end. Didn't think Dallas would be the ones to do it but so be it.

This has been a helluva ride for me since '08 & just thought i'd create a thread where we can show appreciation to our team & talk about our most memorable moments with the team and realgm.

My 2 most favorites are when the Lakers came here for their annual pre season game & i got to meet & talk to everyone & got some good pics too!

Wish i knew how to post them for you guys!

2nd was when we lost Boston in '08 & they acted like Bynum did not exist & called us cowards for mentioning that we never had him & Trevor was barely back from injury. They told us to man up & accept the fact that they just had the better team.

Well the favor was returned ;ast year. I blasted those fools every time they tried to mention the future hall of famer Points & 6 rebounds averaging Kendrick Perkins :lol:

it killed them when i told them in this same series Drew hit him up for 21 points 6 boards & 7 blocks on 1 leg. So if you guys can say "if" Perk wasn't out, we can say if Drew was 100% & remember the Drew is forbidden to be mentioned in the '08 series, well same here for Kendra :lol:

Those fools were sick! :lol:

yeah it was an up and down season to say the least but i enjoyed every min i watched the lake show take the floor...

we'll be back

And as stunnar0b said we'll be back.

Wont stop till the Lakers on top. Stole that from one of those Laker theme songs.

I was kinda sure that we wouldn't 3-peat.

This amazing run started when I returned from LA with lots of Lakers gear and I kinda thought that they brought luck since the Lakers made it back-to-back, and at the beginning of the season I was hoping for a 3-peat, and thought that all these lucky flags would work again... :lol:

... but when we had that 5 game slump at the end of the season I realized 100 % that they were just gased out. I could even feel how far they were from being fresh as in the past 3 playoffs.

But it's been an amazing run and I'm happy for Phil that he added 2 great rings to his legacy and it cemented Kobe's name because 5 rings is not 3.

GO LAKERS ! Next season is gonna be fun just because we'll have a new coach and probably this team will find its groove again. Not so sure about how they'll handle the playoffs without Phil though. But that's great when you don't know what's gonna happen...

I'm also thankful in a way that they'll have this year a lot of time to heal their bodies and Kobe as well will have plenty of time to gear up for one final push of his career cause he's had a damn long run since 2008.

I'm happy... I hope we'd be unbeatable, but we aren't when we're not 100 % full working. xD

great idea for a thread anklebreaker702. this has definately been a great run. 3 straight trips to the finals,and 2 chips. i knew we would be too tired but the homer in me wanted us to three peat bad. my most memorable moment was last season's finals game 7. that showed grit heart and teamwork. i am still very proud of my team. the haters are rejoicing because they are tired of seeing us win,but i truly believe we will be back stronger and hungrier next year. niether kobe or this team is through. we will need some tweaks but nothing to major imo. this nice rest will due our players some good.

Nah Jetset, i enjoy the board. I'm here for the long haul. We're not done though. 1 or 2 moves & we're right back next year.

Totally agree.

This core can still win. As much as has been made about the lack of quickness in our back court and having an "old" team (much of that is true), I really think this team was not mentally up to compete for a championship.
I think they have one or two more years left in this core...

I was kind of glad they didn't win it all... buying championship gear is expensive.

on the flip side, a playoff will re-juvinate this team for next year..look what happened to pau gasol after the loss to boston in '08...he flat out DOMINATED the following season and dwight howard in the finals...very unexpected.

next year should be the year of andrew bynum. hopefully this team realizes that. especially kobe. if they do, the rest of the NBA is in for a big surprise.

For me, it was one of the worst seasons of Lakers basketball if not ever.

Arguably one of the deepest Laker squads managed to under achieve (lost too many games to worst teams)
Won games on talent alone, no defensive effort, hustle...
Rarely dominated from start to finish (only signature win vs spurs)
Coaching sucked, never cracked whip or held them accountable
Too many jump shots from Kobe (way too many misses)
everything wii be all right attitude after key losses (proverbial switch mentality)
Lost to Heat at home (ruined Xmas), choked away game in crunch time
Failed to unite, man up and fight with pride vs Mavs
Failed to take advantage to 3 peat for Phil (Kobe tie MJ), remind critics who top dog really is
LO and Drew punked out
Our 2nd option (most consistant player) disappeared in playoffs
Just epic fail of season, period.

Definitely a fun season, extremely up and down. Really nice thread AB. My first time on these boards where lakers didn't make the finals as well, and this was really my first year here posting a ton in the Laker forum.

I hope at the very least lakers ticket prices go down a bit next year since they won't be champs, maybe I can attend more than one game next season!
