I know I might be beating a dead horse but I was just wondering considering his contribution (clutch, leadership), does he get his number up there?

If the decision is mine, definitely.
If it's the organisation's, probably not.

Hell no.
We don't retire the jerseys of role players. Do you think we're the Celtics or something?
You have to be in the Hall Of Fame, and even if you are, there is no guarantee.
NBA LEGENDS ONLY!

No. It's not a knock on Fisher, but the Lakers don't retire role player's jerseys, as mentioned before. You don't see the likes of Byron Scott, Michael Cooper, and Robert Horry up in the rafters. Kobe and Shaq's jerseys will be retired, though.

How about retiring a number (6?) to honor all those great key players?

Robert Horry only won 3 of his 7 titles with the Lakers so no they wouldn't retire his jersey. Fish has won as many titles with the Lakers as Magic and started on the last two. He's also hit some of the most clutch shots in Laker history and is a "HOF person" to the community as well. I would be all for seeing Fish's jersey in the rafters.

Not happening. Unless he somehow makes the HOF or coaches the Lakers to win championships.

If Wilt who only played four real seasons with the Lakers and won 1 title and Stumpy Goodrich who is lauded for scoring less career points, having less career assists and playing in less career games than Fish who has won 5 titles can have their jersey's retired, you better believe Fish should be up there ... there is also a man by the name of Kobe that will probably have a say in this decision one day.

If B-Scott didn't get his jersey retired there's no way Fisher is getting it.
Wilt averaged 20/20, 27/19, 22/19 in some of his seasons with the Lakers and he's a hall of famer, top 5 all time player.
Goodrich was a bonafide 25 PPG scorer for multiple seasons with the Lakers. Lets not act like its Karl Malone and Gary Payton on the Lakers.

I'd retire Nick Van Exel than Fisher. No disrespect the dude is clutch, but there are a lot of players that played for the Lakers that were equally as clutch as Fisher back then.

Why NVE over Fisher?

Plus, they're both in the Hall of Fame.
With a franchise that's had so much success, that's our standard, and I totally support that. Teams that haven't had enough great players retire their role players. We don't have to settle.
Besides, if we were going to, I'd do it for Michael Cooper way before I'd do it for Fisher.

^ Yes, Wilt is Wilt but he only played here a very short time ... Goodrich will have nearly all of his stats bested by Fisher who also won 5x as many titles ... and again ... I truly believe Kobe will have some say in the matter in the future.

Yeah Fisher is going to end up scoring 25 PPG. Cool.

Goodrich did not have his stats bested by Fisher. Fisher lasted longer. There's a huge difference. He was head and shoulders above Fisher as a player.

Fisher's numbers are not good enough to get him into the Refters, no way..
BUT, If I am a Buss, I go to him and tell him if he retires "right now" I will get him either in the front office or as a coach and RETIRE his number...
