Jimmy Buss and his Masterplan

With the hiring of Mike Brown it seems Jimmy Buss has put his name on the front pages again and i dont think he likes what he's been hearing.

He has stayed pretty quiet and seems to like it that way but when daddy gives you the reins to running one of the most successful sports franchises in history your never going to be able to make everyone happy and your never going to be able to hide from the Los Angeles sports media.

With a lock out seeming more and more likely what better time to clean house. It can be done right now and simply look like measures are being taken to cut cost's just like every other team might be doing.

Longtime assistant GM Ronnie Lester was told his contract would not be renewed and it's been reported that Ronnie was looked at as a Jerry West holdover having never really embraced Jimmy calling shots. Is Mitch the next to go? I would say it depends on where his loyalties lie plain and simple.

With Kobe slowing down and staying as hotheaded as ever he does not seem ready to hand the on court reins over to Bynum who happens to have a huge cheerleader in Jimmy Buss. I wonder how Jimmy feels about Kobe standing in the way of Bynum taking the team to re-newed highs which would validate the choice to take Bynum in the draft and many vetoes by Jimmy to trade Bynum in the past.

The hiring of Brown to me seems like a way for Jimmy to show the world that this team is now his and perhaps Kobe does not like the hire but what can he do but shut up and play or perhaps......just perhaps part of the plan was to piss Kobe off and have Kobe request to be traded? Well Kobe does have a no trade clause so he cant be traded unless it's his idea.

When Kobe was asked how he felt about the hiring of Brown "No comment" was his reply
If it had been Coach K or BShaw do you think his reply would have been "No Comment"?

Once Kobe is gone this really becomes Jimmy's team and i feel that is all part of the Master Plan!

Poor analysis, too much overthinking.

Did you actually just type Kobe is standing in the way of Bynum taking this team to new heights?

I would've thought out something long and elaborate but yours is quick and gets right to the point.

bynum cant be the franchise player even if kobe was coming off the bench for 15 minutes a game. as long as kobe is in LA, it will remain kobe's team

Read the context of that quote!
I dont think anyone on this board thinks that, including myself....it's my assumption thats how Jim Buss see's it for the very reasons i laid out!

I could not agree more and thats why i think Jim would not loose too much sleep if Kobe all of a sudden ask's out! It becomes Bynum's team on court and clearly Jim's off court!

I really dont think Bynum is capable of being our franchise player, he is too injury prone and just needs to take a backseat, i think Jim buss is trying to enlarge Bynum's ego. But i do think that were thinking too much into this story.

Screw it I heard on Ireland's talk show that Jim Buss is indeed willing to trade Bynum for Dwight Howard ONLY.

Which at this point is exactly how it should be...

We have a bleak, injury prone future if Bynum is going to be our future like you seem to believe.

nope. no owner would screw up his own franchise and lose billions, just to prove something, plain and simple.

Andrew Bynum will never be a franchise player. Ever. I keep reading conflicting reports about whether or not Jim Buss would deal Andrew away, so I'm unsure of his stance on the matter. If he is unwilling to trade Andrew Bynum, he is pretty much an idiot. If he is willing, congratulations, he's not an idiot.

Looking at his track record and what he's actually done for the organization, I'm not too confident about his abilities while calling the shots. He's pretty much been patting himself on the back for the last couple of years for that Bynum pick and conveniently ignoring his 40-year old knees of glass.

I'm too post drunk to analyze all these "summer" post, but I agree with what Doormatt said.

Oh and just a heads up on the impending lock out, on Wednesday nights I play in this rec league at my gym. Anyway it has a lot of refs who want to break into officiating, long story short....NBA ref Kevin Cutler stops by all the time. Last week he said his schedule is free until maybe January.

A short season favors us big time.

Looks like you rewrote Wojo's recent article with an optimistic point of view.

He does. He was just pissed Gasol and Odom didn't outplay him in the play-offs. I felt the same way.
