Lakers have slipped down on Dwight's list

The big assumption has been that the Lakers with all their flashbulb opportunities would be where Howard lands, but ESPN’s Ric Bucher said in a chat Friday that doesn’t look like the case at the moment.
Lakers have slipped on Dwight’s list for reasons beyond (Bynum being “untouchable”). I’d rank his preferences in this order: Orlando, Dallas, NJ, Lakers. But for Orlando to keep him, they’re going to have to make some serious deals, ones that I’m really doubtful they can pull off.
Im clueless as to why the lakers slipped below NJ???.... i dunno guys, but i seriously think it has to do with Mike Brown. What do you think?

Lakers have slipped on Bucher's list for reasons beyond (Bynum being "untouchable"). He doesn't know what Howard is going to do, only Howard knows. And as for this "list" why is Dallas even on it? Bucher was the one who thought LeBron would resign in Cleveland and that Miami had the least chance of acquiring him, and now he's saying that ORL has the best chance at Howard and the Lakers are the least likely. Deja vu to anyone else? Hopefully his wrongfulness will show tried and true this time around.
But I will admit we probably look less appealing now with the shuffle that has taken place. There's an uncertainty with us right now that only our performance on the court will be able to remedy. Unless before the season starts we magically turn some of our scrap into an ace player that can help entice Howard to come here.

the Lakers slipped because Bucher hasn't read the LA times article where Jim implies that Bynum is untouchable except when it comes to Howard.
if the Lakers trade Bynum for Howard, Jim Buss wins. not Mitch, not Jerry West, not Phil, not daddy. Jim effin Buss wins.
from Howards point of view, Mike Brown is irrelevant, but if wants to make it an issue he can think about the Duncan/Robinson defense and what Brown can do with the Howard/Gasol twin towers.

It's Bucher, this is the same guy who said Kobe will never wear a Laker uniform again, Same one who said Bron would stay in Cleveland.....dude try's to predict stuff and is consistently wrong. Only Dwight knows what he'll do.

Yea, you guys are right, Bucher has a lot of misses in his career. He isnt even a credible source.

We need to stop blaming everything on Mike Brown can we let the guy coach one game heck let him run one practice. Wouldn't MIke Brown being a defensive coach be what Dwight wants also this could all a leverage game to get Orlando to put some players around him. Dallas I think is out of the running its got to be a sign and trade there is nothing Dallas can give Orlando in a trade.

i wasnt hating on him.... i was just saying if the story was true then the only reason for him to change his list would be the recent signing of mike brown.

There is probably a million reasons why the Lakers reportedly have fallen on Dwight's list maybe he saw how the Lakers were eliminated or he doesn't want to live in LA who knows. Also I really doubt as much so many Lakers fans want to believe the Lakers aren't an option for every star NBA player. Maybe he never wanted to be in LA who knows.

pretty much this. it's not like we are some 40 win middle of the pack team or something. we ahve a more better chance at contending for the next 4-5 years than his current team.

Ummm.....no we don't. It's going to be harder for us to get back to the Finals. Teams aren't afraid of us anymore, they think they can walk in and beat us on any given night which is something that is different than the past 2 season when we were without a doubt the creme de la creme of the West.
Dallas, Memphis, OKC.
These are the teams we may face on a road to 17 and all three can knock us out. Dallas has already delivered their blows, they've shown they should never be overlooked again as long as their is a 7ft. German shooter on their team. Memphis is an emerging team who beat our adversary SAS without their star player in Rudy Gay. OKC is already looking like a favorite to come out of the West for the next couple of years, experience is only going to make them stronger and that much more impossible to beat.
Outside of Dallas these teams will only get better as the years go on. While we'll continue to get older, slower, and closer to Bynum yes Andrew friggin Bynum being the face of the franchise. You get Howard, pair him up with Kobe and build a championship caliber team around them and not only do you dominate these teams along with the rest of the Western Conference, you dominate the entire league and that includes the Miami Heat.

Jeset, I kinda have to agree with my boys magic1fan and ILLMATIC. We're not hard up for Dwight, if he decides to come great, if not so be it. The Lakers will always be able to attract top notch talent, if we keep running things the right way with Jim calling the shots.
The thing that recently went over most people heads with this coaching hire is that Jim was bold with this move. This tells me that the better and more confident he gets, he'll have the gall to make moves most teams wouldn't. That said I don't fear OKC, Dallas or Memphis.
Reason being it's a simple formula that tears teams down after they gain success. 1...Free agent situations, this will always be a factor for teams with limited resources to begin with anyway. 2....Young teams tend to amass too much young talent too quickly only to see bitter in house spats, and squabbles over playing time with coaches. Remember when the Blazer had all that young talent and even us Laker fans thought that team would be a problem........look at them now ?
Then the next factor that eventually breaks down teams is EXPECTATIONS. Once you get to the level those teams have gotten to it's no more sneaking up on teams. The Sacramento Kings disintegrated to this same formula. I don't worry when these teams have a flash in the pan moment, chances are they won't sustain it.
I can bet Westbrook and Durant won't finish their careers on the same team, Dallas is in their make good window now, Cuban has dough so he'll rebuild at some point but we'll be right there at that time too. And Memphis won't have the same roster 2 or 3 years from now either. Bottom line is this we'll be around, not worried one bit about these up and coming so called contenders. I've seen too many of these stories over and over to know it won't last. Some teams think they want to win big time, but they really don't know what comes with it. They don't know.

You raise some good points Deep and look I'm not saying that all of our future bouts for a title rest in the hands of Howard, all I'm saying is getting Howard would be a great luxury and would put us back over the top and cream of the crop when it comes to the rest of the league. If Howard comes here then terrific, if he doesn't then oh well back to the drawing board, we'll find a way to get back there somehow. But for that guy to easily say "we'll be in contention for the next 4-5 yrs" couldn't be farther from the truth. We don't have that long with the current roster.

Oh mos def agree Jet, D12 would be a luxury if it comes to that. Means we can just keep the train rolling. And I agree about this current group, we don't have a 4-5 year window at least not without adding key pick ups during that time I'm guess'in. But even still some of those guys will be dropped off along the way.......just the evolution of ball, everybody goes through it.

Stands to reason that Bynum would become untouchable the same time Howard became unreachable.
