Barnes announces he will return next yr

"I'll be a Laker next year," Barnes said. "I always knew what I was going to do."
Barnes made the announcement while talking to reporters at the Lakers training facility after Mike Brown was introduced as the team's new head coach. Barnes, who sat alongside the Buss family in the front row during the press conference, was the only player in attendance.
"[Brown's] an open minded coach, which is good," Barnes said. "We have a very veteran-driven team and I'm sure guys will have their opinion on this and that but as long as he listens and decides what's best for the team, I think he'll be great."

Expected, but good to hear nonetheless. Barnes always gave 110% when he was out there pre-injury. Hope he can get back to 100% over the summer.

Great!!!!! Maybe Coach Brown will have a better role for him in the upcoming year. I wanna jump for joy, but I live in Orlando and people around here are still not happy about the Matt Barnes thing. Or the Shaq thing for that matter! HAHAHA! And now, all the Dwight to the Lakers talk....shhhhhhh!

My second favorite player on the lakers. I just love his hustle. He may screw up, but he plays hard doing it. Well, maybe not my second favorite...but you get the picture.

I live in So. Cal so I get to watch the Lakers a lot but why do you guys like him? Not trying troll but he's freakin horrible in my opinion. Barnes has like no skills at all, his defense really isn't that good and certainly not good enough to overlook his horrible shooting stroke and how he always misses wide open layups/dunks. I thought they never should've signed him last year and just rolled with Ebanks at backup sf who's a pretty intriguing prospect, gives the Lakers much needed athleticism and is imo just as good of a defender as Barnes. Brown isn't gonna opt out(probably) and neither Ebanks/Barnes should be playing the 2 spot so it's gonna be another year where Ebanks is buried on the bench. I know Barnes hustles but so did Vujacic and nobody liked him

Like Jason terry says, FAKE Laker. As Laker fans we not use to guys talking and not backing it up. He called out Terry and he Mavs, and got punked his Frankenstein looking mouth.
I had a bad feeling about him when i remember what he did with the Kobe and ball to his face thing. He seemed like a fake tough guy. Almost like that guy who grew up in a good household , but became a punk for no reason.

he was a great hustle player before he went down with injury. he seemed to have lost some explosiveness after that, and seemed more timid in general. i think hes a great role player. he knows his role, doesnt take stupid shots, crashes the boards, D's up well, and just in general is a great spark off the bench. i think he is easily our 2nd best bench player when healthy.

lol. he has no skills at all? he was our 2nd most efficient bench player this year, and the best defender. he had a TS% of 57 compared to brown with 52TS% and blake with a horrendous 50TS%. pretty much all of his stats (PER, shooting%, Drtg, Ortg, etc..) are best off the bench, next to odom of course. he's not the greatest role player, but he's well worth his salary, and deserving of a spot on this team. he's A LOT better than that chucker brown, and more valuable than blake, thats for sure.

sorry, but this is a stupid criticism. the entire lakers team got punked. hard. and it had nothing to do with matt barnes.
