I'm thinking Championship time

not a big fan of his but i think we can get a chip with him in the fold.

What do we give up?

Pick n roll, penetrate and kick, and one of the best true shooters in the game. Offensively, he'd make us really go. He could be what Barea was to the Mavs, but a whole lot better. And he finally has the closer in Kobe, so he can defer to him unlike in PHX.

Defensively.. lol different story, but we have Mike Brown who is a defensive coach so we'd probably have some sort of defensive scheme that would compensate for Nash. We could probably live with funneling the opposing PG's towards Bynum.

I like our chances with these types of PG's, doesn't have to be Nash though.

Offensively ya we'd be dynamite and the big men would do extremely well.

Defensively we'd be a bit more efficient offense and that would help our transition D (less long jumpers) but overall we can still be beat. I'd hate to see Nash-Pau defend the P and R.

after signing mike brown, i do believe that we would be more then fine with nash.
but hey then again, here comes the age with our point guards. but hey we've won with fisher starting, so

We'd have Bynum/Gasol fouling out every game because Nash's guy would go right around him and draw contact.

Ya this would be a major problem on defense without Odom here. We don't have Miami's wings to make up for the penetration. We'd be better off with a lesser PG that can play great defense.

LO + Blake + Ebanks works in the trade machine. Doubtful that would be enough to get PHX to give us Nash though

Brown, Barnes and Bynum might be the only guys to benefit from having Nash around. You have to take a look at how the other guys play on offense before pairing them up with a creator like Nash.

From the standpoint of building a dominant team, Nash would ONLY work if we aquired a starting wing who could masterfully guard PGs, SGs, and SFs (ie Corey Brewer, D. Stevenson, Ariza, Stacey Augmon-type etc).

Artest and Nash would not be dominant with Kobe because none of those three could check a speedy PG.

Lakers need to get younger. it would be nice, but in the long run he must be 35 or older and not sure giving up some one young would be the best idea.

Really? Can you give one shred of evidence that Nash is a liability for the Suns on defense? In fact, I think you'll find that the Suns are a better defensive team with him on the court. Nash isn't the best man defender, but he is very savy and plays solid team defense.

Besides his blinding offensive efficiency (even at this age) would make up for whatever defensive shortcomings he has. Nash/Gasol pick n roll would be devastasting, and we'd finally have a PG who could run a fastbreak! He'd give Kobe another playmaker and is exactly the shooter we need.

Imo Nash is the exact type of player we need, but I'm not sure we have anything to give up to get him that's fair. Bynum/Gasol is way too much and with Odom we'd need to get something else back, like Lopez, which I doubt the Suns are interested in.

So he's going to be able to stay in front of Westbrook, Paul etc. lol doubt it and I don't need evidence everyone knows he sucks on defense

Nash is not a good defender by any stretch of the imagination, but what he brings offensively far outweighs his short-comings on defense. Besides that, our current PG is among the worst defenders in the league, and he brings pretty much nothing else to the table outside of some clutch shots here and there (and some intangibles, but Nash has those as well). Besides that, we didn't lose this year because of our PG defense.

I don't think people understand just how good of an offensive player Nash is. He's one of the best ever if only judging on that end of the floor. He's mentally tough, a great leader and floor general, makes the game MUCH easier for his teammates, and can shoot lights out. He would be perfect for us if for only a couple of seasons (or hell, just one season).

I don't particularly care about individual defense at this point. Our problem is that we play garbage defense as a team. We don't cover for each other, communicate, or even try most of the time, and that's where our real problems lie. I think Mike Brown is going to make a huge difference in that regard.

Unfortunately Nash doesn't strike me as the type of guy that goes chasing rings, so I think he will retire in Phoenix, or maybe even go back to the Mavericks after his contract is over. I would absolutely love to have him on our team though. I consider him to be the 3rd best PG ever, and he still has plenty of game left even at his current age.

Nashy is ONE of the Greatest Point Guards of All Time.

But,
Imagining Jason Kidd Posting him up.
Or Nashy chasing around JJ Barea and Terry for 2-3 quarters I don't think it would of mattered this season.
