Lakers shifting their eyes on deron or CP3?

According to InsideHoops.com the Lakers might not be focusing on bringing in Dwight Howard this off-season after all. Rumor has it the Lakers will be looking to solidify another roster spot that has recently been problematic - the point guard position.
Apparently the Lakers wish list includes Deron Williams of the New Jersey Nets and Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets. Both are currently under contract with their respective teams and would need to be acquired by trade.
There is no question that the point guard spot has been tough for the Lakers the last few seasons as Derek Fisher's play has declined as his age increased. With Mike Brown looking to move away from Phil Jackson's triangle offense there is no doubt that the team needs a stronger guard running the point heading into the future.

If given a choice I'd choose Deron Williams.
Edit: Could you link us to the article man?

Either one would make me very happy.

It sure seems like Deron wants out of NJ, with him not signing an extension...
He may be waiting to see where Dwight lands, but I think there might be an opportunity there for us to wrap him up while everyone is preocupied with DHoward...

A pre-draft trade for Deron is unlikely but would probably look as follows: Pau, Brown, Caracter, Ebanks, Walton for Deron, Outlaw, Morrow and Petro.
I'm guessing that if Deron or CP3 is traded it will be around the trade deadline rather than pre-draft, so a more realistic TD trade would look as follows: Pau, Ebanks, Caracter, Walton, 12 #1 and cash for Deron, Outlaw, Morrow and Petro.
As for CP3 ... a pre-draft or trade deadline trade would probably look as follows: Bynum, Odom, Blake, Ebanks and Caracter for CP3, Okafor and Ariza.

I like both but Deron seems more of the showtime type. I like CP3 more because he's more of a facilitator,Deron's more of a scoring PG. Also, I don't want anyone wearing #8.

damn AI,your trades are just too perfect!it's doable but somehow unrealistic.

CP3 over Deron. After the whole Deron/Sloan issue, I see Deron entirely different now.

the author was just speculating what he though the lakers would do. "don't be surprised".
the inside hoops guy just copied the NY daily article, but the TLN guy needs some reading comprehension if he didn't see it was just the author guessing at what the lakers might do.

same here bro...i was huge on deron before the sloan thing happened, and i still think hes better than cp3, but cp3 almost carried his way out of the 1st round proving to everyone that he hasnt gone anywhere.
i might have shifted more towards cp3 too, but damn, any of the 2 would be nice to have around

Deron would kill CP3 in a game of 1-on-1 and is surely the better scoring PG but CP3 is the better floor general and more efficient offensive player ... he's also younger ... I'd take CP3 over Deron but would be ecstatic with either.

When motivated, Deron is a beast. I don't know what happened with him and utah, but it makes me hesitant.
Cp3 is a flat out competitor, I think people don't see it, but he's just as passionate and fired up as kobe.
Yet I still like Deron more. But you can't go wrong with either.
Lets just get both.

I like Deron.
He is the better defender. Do people not remember Derek driving by Paul on isos as well in our series because he isn't a good 1 on 1 defender himself? He just flops a lot.
Deron is also the safer bet. Deron unlike Paul actually has a meniscus in his knee. Do you really want to worry about Bynum and him both going down? Kobe's knee is more stable, which is saying something
Paul is also far more passive by nature, just like Pau, and that is the opposite of what Kobe and the team needs. Deron wouldn't just stand around and watch late in games or be taken out of rhythm, and as of right now the only Laker who can make that claim regularly especially in the clutch is Fisher

I'd do that deal in a heart beat ... however ... it would probably require Humphries telling the Nets he won't sign an extension with them and they might as well trade him to the Lakers because I think they plan to throw some silly $$$$ at Kimmy K's man. I also don't think the Nets will want Blake and his long contract.

It's a win-win situation with either one of those elite point guards. Humphries to the Lakers? That would make 2 Kardashians in the Laker family... but I wouldn't mind seeing more of Kim.

^ Hahahaha, you and 99% of all Lakers fans, at least the men ... Kimmy is quite a creation

I'm not sure however if Kim alone wouldn't give the ownership pause ... they may seriously be scared to think of what Mrs. Bryant, Mrs. Odom and Kimmy would be like as a triple threat.

Next thing you know it will be the Kardashian's mom running the Lakers.

The Nets could risk losing Williams for nothing, that would means giving up Favors, Harris and two future first rounds so I say get a big that can rebound and place him next to Lopez to cover up his weakness. Farmar is good with starter minutes and Blake would be a great back up
