http://www.foxsportsohio.com/06/21/11/L ... eedID=3725With news that Lamar Odom is being heavily shopped by the Lakers, first to the Wolves for the #2 pick which the Wolves turned down and now to the Philadelphia 76'ers for Andre Iguodala, it's also being reported that Mike Brown may be pushing for the Lakers front office to make a trade for one of Brown's former players, Anderson Varejo.
Oh man ... I will say again that I don't understand why we are shopping our most talented, best locker-room presence and cheapest "big" when we could get much more in return for our injury prone young C or massively overpayed PF ... however if we could trade Odom and a 2nd round pick or two for Iggy and the #16 pick or even Odom, Blake, Brown a 2nd round pick or two for Iggy, Lou Williams and the #16 that is sort of a no-brainer.
However, Anderson Varejo? Anderson Varejo? There are actually a couple trades we could pull the trigger on with the Cavs that would make a great deal of sense, trades such as Odom, Walton and Blake for Varejo and Baron Davis, however there are a great many trades we could do with the Cavs that woud be disastrous. Varejo's contract in and of itself is evil, pure evil and we would do best to stay clear.

Any deal where we can unload luke walton and/or steve blake is worth considering especially if we are getting a strong pointgaurd in return and a big who hustles and plays with passion. Something we are lacking these days.

someone was posting about that yesterday. that writer is a big cavs homer from what i gathered on his twitter.
anyway, i completely disagree with your assessment of Varejao

i think he's paid fairly, but i wouldn't give up any of the big 3 for him.

Really? Wow, whatever floats your boat man ... Andy makes $35mil over the next 4 years and will be getting $9.8mil in 2014-15 ... to me that uis ridiculous as I don't see him as being worth anyting more than a bit above the MLE ... maybe $6.5-7mil a year tops ... $9.8 is just crazy.

True ... that is a deal I would consider.

If it is Luke Walton + spare parts for Varejao, I am in. Otherwise, no thanks.

^Hahahaha, you're funny ... who knows maybe Luke, Ebanks, Caracter and a couple #2's could land us Varejo, but I doubt it.

Varejo is a good rebounder, a good team defender, a good man defender, an above average passer and absolutely pathetic on offense ... I'd be happy to have him ... just at the right price.

He's mini Joakim Noah, wouldn't mind having him but not if we have to give up Odom

not if we have to give up odom.
i would assume the cavs would be interested in a salary dump, which is why the lakers are in this rumour.
walton/blake/filler should get it done. cavs dont need AV's contract on a rebuilding team and they probably dont want him in the EC either

^ Um, Walton and Blake would be the opposite of a salary dump ... a salary dump trade would be us sending the expiring contracts of Brown, Ratliff and Smith along with the super cheap one year remaining contracts of Ebanks and Caracter to the Cavs for A.V. straight up ... I would do that deal and the Cavs might too ... DO IT MITCH!

Send me #4 and Gibson with Vajaja and I'll do Odom/fillers

, I'm not a fan of the Iggy trade because we filling a hole semi filled with Artest and creating HUGE one in odom absence. This trade on the other hand covers Odom's absence somewhat but plugs in that HUGE hole we have with #4 pick we could get Knight. I could live w/o Gibson but if they threw him in its all gravy, he can be that spot up shooter we need.

u do realise we have to match salaries right???
take a course in CBA1001 and come back when you try to make 7mil in outgoing salary with brown, ratliff and smith (the latter two are already off the books, so itll have to be a S&T)

i agree varejao's contract is huge but he's quality. i really like his game. imo he's right there with joakim noah. they call andy the freak for a reason. he has a real passion for the game and he gets quite a few baskets around the rim. imagine the type of energy he could give the lakers. mann i would love to have him even for 9.8 mill why?? energy, passion.. this stuff can have a great effect on everyone. i wouldnt mind trading odom.. maybe getting back gibson as well. that foo is a knock down 3 pt shooter!
yo ai in la.. can u stop spelling varejao's name like that? lol =)

When I first saw this, I said to myself, "Say it ain't so". If this is the type of influence Mike Brown is going to have on LA, I say we cut bait now and find a different coach. Varejao has been playing off potential for so long. He's injury prone and is as uncoordinated as Samaki Walker. I'll pass.

I actually like ESPNLA's McMenamin's trade idea...
Gasol for Varajeo, Sessions, and the # 4 pick.
You replace Gasol's defense and rebounding (may be even better, but not a better shot blocker than Gasol) give Gasol's shots to mostly Bynum and some to Odom.
Upgrade the PG position now and add your PG of the future all in one move.
Only caveat, a decent center would have to be signed (MLE?) to back up Bynum, as if Bynum is out, Varajeo could not absorb all of the minutes there.
