odom at pg

ireland mentioned trying out the "real" big starting five:
pg: odom
sg: kobe
sf: peace
pf: pau
c: bynum
he thinks kobe will be back at 100% with all the rest and plasma transplant, meaning that he could go back to guarding pg's like he used to do with iverson etc back in the day. he gave a pretty reasonable example for d vs thunder
kobe on westbrook
odom (or ron) on sefelosha
ron (or odom) on durant
pau on ibaka
bynum on perkins
on the flip side, kobe could take westbrook down to the block and abuse him, same w odom.
thoughts? comments? concerns?

Would likely have to play other 4 for defensive purposes (Barnes instead of Pau/Bynum?)
but sometimes I think of it (Odom @ PG) and dream of another MJ - Magic, of course

Always wanted Phil to try that lineup, look at when Ron was suspended in the playoffs, LO came in and gave us that spark in the lineup.

A friend of mine says that ESPN(Chris Broussard) reported a few weeks ago that many GMs were hesitant to trade for Lamar because they were afraid he would not play well outside of L.A with his wife being in L.A, reality show, business deals, etc. That is why they were hesitant to give up quality players for Odom. Does anyone know the video he is talking about?

It was around the draft. He said that's the reason why he wasn't traded to Philly.

works well on 2k games lol, everytime I play some one online I face this lineup, you can't reb well against this lineup at all....but in real life I dont think its a good idea, we need more floor spacers for pau/bynum and for kobe to drive. Also we lose any sort of talent off the bench and even if Kobe is fully healthy again, age has caught up with him and I dont think he can guard speed anymore.

I'd play a zone defense against this lineup since there's far too many mismatches available in a traditional defense.

^^^^lots of team play zone against ours even w/o this fantasy lineup and for whatever reason our players act like they never seen it before. Dall obviously did this to us and everyone they faced and gotten away with it repeatedly even against Mia who had shooters.

Worst idea ever. We would be even worse defensively, Odom always plays with some hesitation when switched onto smaller players because he's afraid of getting blown by. Imagine that for an entire game, it would be awful. Odom isn't versatile enough to check guards consistently, or even quicker small forwards.
Offensively, it doesn't solve any of our problems. Odom is much more effective driving to the rim and in the post than as a shooter/facilitator, which is a more pertinent need. I don't think Odom is even that good at creating for others, which makes the idea of him at PG even more puzzling.

That's because Jackson neglects the zone defense (both for his own team and for working against it).

I always dreamed of seeing that, too. Not sure why they didn't at least throw it out there for a couple minutes to see if it'd work.
