Question-Is LAL open to trading Kobe?

Post#1 » by SideSwipe » Wed Jul 6, 2011 11:14 pm

I'm not trying to troll, just trying to get an honest feel for the temperature of the organization given Kobe's contract and the coaching change. If so, what would you guys be looking for?

I know he has a no-trade clause, i am assuming he would be open to wherever he may look at getting moved to. This is just an outsiders opinion, but I don't think if Kobe is traded he will pull in any of Rose, D12 or Wade they are MVP candidates. Contract cost, and declining years could cause some issues with incoming value. I would think a good veteran and a young hotshot plus pick(s) is a more likely scenario.

Does everybody else out there think that if Kobe is traded that he could pull in Wade, D12, or Rose on his own? Maybe if you add in Pau or Bynum in a package, you could cover that and get extra pieces, but I don't think on his own he could get that?

I think the great thing about LA is that they've built a team with several crucial pieces rather than do what Cleveland and Orlando did, which is build it around a single player. LA wouldn't be interested in trading Kobe simply because we don't have to. There are other players we could trade for guys like Dwight, DWill, KLove. We don't need star power like Rose or Wade, at least not quite yet. Maybe two or three years down the line, but by then, Kobe is on the verge of retiring anyway.

The answer is no Kobe retires a Laker.

And that no trade clause is important because what ever trade that could potentially land Kobe on another team would cost that team dearly, in fact Mitch would rip that team apart. No way Kobe ok's a trade to play with a skeleton crew.
“If this is his team, that means no more coming into camp fat/out of shape, no more blaming others for our team’s failure, my team doesn’t mean only when we win it means carrying the burden of defeat just as gracefully as you carry a championship trophy.”

not even that. rose had the team with the best record in the league and couldn't win. d12 has been taking his team backwards since their finals run in 09. wade had lebron and bosh and couldn't beat the mavs with dirk shooting 41%. i would rather keep the team that just went to three straight finals and won two straight chips.
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!

even if mgmt was open to trading him, he makes so much and at his age we would get so little, more like 2-3 overpaid bums who'll do nothing for us

Yes that quote was from the break up year.

I am so surprised this didn't get locked yet
