Is J-Rich a legit possibility?

Post#1 » by 7_ace_7 » Thu Jul 14, 2011 1:30 am

Its a very slow off season (with the lockout and all) and I know some people hate these type of threads, but do you guys think J-Rich would be a legit option for us? As per the wiretap, he doesn't care for the money and wants to be in a place that is good for his family and is in a position to play for a ring. Can he start at the 3? Would he be willing to be a super-sub off the bench? I'm just throwing it out there. I've been a fan of his, and he will bring some athleticism (though aging) that we desperately need.

Thoughts? Comments?

I dont see the lakers even going after him at all. remember guys ?!? they dont care about guard positions.. only centers and forwards :curse:

hes most likely going to sign with Celtics / Spurs / Mavs / Heat

If he is serious about what he says, then J-Rich only has a few options. Secondly he has to sort out his playing time in those situations. Miami is out...too many players at his spot, Spurs are out because truth be told their window has closed, I don't care what Parker or Manu says. Duncan can't dominate, and when you're a team with a big who can't exert his will you don't win period.

The only two viable options are the Mavs and Lakers, but I think the Mavs are a one trick pony. He's fit here better with us, seeing as we could open up minutes at his spot.

It comes down to the Lakers do not have money to sign this kind of player. He wants money, they all want money. He will not come for 5 million. I see him 10 mil or more. Nice player, but untill the lockout ends and that might be next summer. Lakers are set with who they have, and that sounds sad to be sure. Lakers need to get younger.

Like I said in an earlier post, he kept the Magic in ALOT of games this year! The Magic would LOVE to keep him but they cant afford him. I said before that he would be a GREAT fit for the Lakers. I dont see him making 10 mil though...he good, but not that good. I hope and pray we get him, but I dont know. He has stated before on how much he liked PHX, the city, the fans. Hope we can do something to get him. He would be NICE coming off the bench in a sort of Microwave(Vinny Johnson) type role. Perfect fit if Kobe ever gets hurt or needs rest. Can play the 3 too! Barnes, JRich, LO...yeah buddy!!!

Sure if J-Rich wants to become J-Poor and play in LA, I have no problems with that.

This is the exact reason it's a lock out, J-Rich is nice but even he was over paid. Face it and heed my words.......there will be no more 10 mil players that aren't franchise leaders at best. The most J-Rich will ever see again is in the range of 6.5 to 7.5 mil easily.

That said the Lakers still don't have that type of dough, but if they really wanted to land him like in all business you make it happen.

He doesn't even deserve 6.5 to 7.5 million at this stage in his career. He's solely a jump shooter now and that's it. If he wants to take a massive pay cut and be our instant offense off the bench, I'd be fine with that.

Your avatar never gets old.

That said, I can't see this happening. LA doesn't have the money to sign Richardson, and I don't know that he'd be terribly interested. I really see him going to Chicago.
