I hope he doesn't resign and I hope lakers don't want him back. Some jerseys just expire over time. Shannon Brown in P&G has expired. Time to give that spot to someone else who can actually shoot the ball well and consistently. It's just time for him to move on. period.

He would be foolish to sign for the Vet's min. The Lakers have his bird rights and can spend whatever they wanted to in efforts to re-sign him. With that said i dont think the Lakers have any desire to sign him unless it was for a vet's min type money.

I agree with the post above.....the ship has sailed in Shannon. The guy should goto a team where he will get some good burn so he can further develop his skill's. He could turn out to be a contributor elsewhere but in P&G nothing but good practice burn and spot min's here and there.

Even though this team lacks athleticism, Shannon Brown just isn't what we need. We could really use a play making guard off the bench.

+1. We also need shooters.

totally agree with worthy...

IMO playmaking is not really a high priority. We can get by with Kobe's, Odom, Gasol, Morris, and occasionally Blake all knowing how to get an assist. We desperately need guys that can shoot lights out. that, is topmost priority for this team! Hopefully that Goudelock guy can "contribute" in that regard. But we need more. We need athleticism as well.... but you can find that anywhere for $760k per season. Shannon Brown is beyond expensive if all we are going to get from him is athleticism. That foo can bounce up outta LA for all i care.

i wonder what mike brown thinks of him, and if he sees a role for brown and/or the ability to get brown to play smarter ball. i think he had him as a player in cleveland for a short stint, so he should have some type of relationship with shannon already.

The Lakers should cut their losses and move in another direction.

Shannon Brown is a scrub. Even sasha was more useful.

It is possible if he picks up his option, takes up part of the MLE/LLE (depending on the new CBA) or signs for the minimum I believe.

I also generally agree with the over all opinions of all the posters above me. As much as I enjoy his occasional high flying acrobatics, not worth more than the min IMO.

Shannon is likely gone guys like Willie Green and Stevenson have been mentioned as possible replacements I personally like Wille Green because he's a better 3pt shooter and a good defender. Also Green is smaller so he can defend the quick PG's in the NBA.

shannon brown already exercised his players option to waive the last yr of his deal, he's a free agent.

as far as taking up the MLE/LLE, lakers hold his bird rights so they wouldn't need to use either the MLE/LLE for him, they can just sign him to whatever they want.

Even though I have nothing against Shannon, it was clearly obvious during last season he was playing for the name on the back rather than the front. I can count too many times where he broke plays, broke momentum and relaxed on D. Things he didn't do when he was trying to beat Sasha out of minutes.

2012 for us is going to be about defense, defense and more defense. I could care less about our offense, because truth is it wasn't the problem why we don't have the trophy here. Like guys have said in this thread, yeah we do need shooters but the reality of that is we have to trust the two guys we drafted in the second round take the mantle. Nobody is going to sign here for the Vets minimum period.

Yes it was times our offense bogged down because of the lack of perimeter shooting, but the lack of getting stops consistently is what hurt us in the end.

Really? so shooting like 15% (guesstimate) from 3 the entire series, and getting absolutely no penetration from our guards wasnt the reason we lost? i beg to differ, in fact, i think our defense was pretty decent. they were shooting absolute lights out from 3, but that also stemmed from us becoming a jumpshooting team (a terrible one at that), and thus never really getting "setup" on D. it seemed like a lot of their shots came off of us being on our heels from a missed shot. offense and defense are not mutually exclusive, they feed off of each other, and we got destroyed imo because we could not get into a comfortable rhythm offensively.

if this team doesnt sign shooters, i have very little confidence of us doing well next year. either kobe is gonna have to go back in time, or drew is gonna have to turn into baby shaq to save us. and i wouldnt count on either of those things.

the Dallas series was the first series in a while where i thought our offense was the problem, not the D.

let me be clear that while i think our defense was okay, we absolutely need someone to cover these smaller guards. we've always been able to skate by against these guys beacuse we were just so good, but those days are over. fisher isnt cutting it, and i dont have a lot of faith in blake. imo our interior and wing defense was about the same it was the previous years, its just we absolutely got our backs broken by the small guards this year (barea and paul), and as i mentioned, our lack of a rythmic offense really stopped us from getting our D set, and set teams up for a lot of fastbreak oppurtunities.

I was going off ShamSports which I thought showed him as having an option next year. I also thought that becoming an unrestricted free agent negated bird rights? I'm probably wrong though, haven't read up on the current CBA in awhile and lost the link I always used to use.

nah, being an unrestricted free agent doesn't mean your team doesn't have bird rights.

you probably lost this link:
