He should do it. Great money for basically what seems to be preseason training for him.

He goes all over the world and plays ball to promote his brand and sponsers as well as NBA as a whole...

This isn't really any different. I think he should do it... He'll catch some grief but as long as there isn't anything tricky in the contracts, he should go.

Now he is getting a $6.7 million offer from the same team?

Virtus has given Bryant four different contract options, stretching from the one-year deal to two-month and one-month options, and a per-game deal that would come out to $739,640 per home game.

what the hell is wrong with you guys. Kobe's already a multi-millionaire, now you want him to put on a jersey of another team? I'm against Kobe playing for any team not named Lakers

I would take it.

Then I would play like Lebron in the 4th quarter of a finals game and just stand around and do nothing.

You are against him playing in the country he grew up in for a glorified tour?

It isn't another NBA team and last I checked his own NBA team is the one who locked him out, not the other way around

I've seen a bunch of articles which say that he's recieved quite a few offers. The most recent is 5 million for one year. None of the articles say what the Lakers pay him per year though, which you would think would be an obvious thing to include, but for some reason they don't tell you.

So...How does the 5m/year compare to his NBA salary? I mean only what he makes from the NBA, no endorsements, appearances, etc.

10/11 -- $24,806,250
11/12 -- $25,244,493
12/13 -- $27,849,149
13/14 -- $30,453,805

For 82 games + playoffs + preseason - taxes

So if Kobe only plays in the regular season he'd get $300k pre taxes per game.

Most overseas teams take taxes into account therefore salaries are usually given as net incomes (aka post taxes) so if he was offered $5 million for a contract, he'd get $5 million. A lot of Euro teams provide housing and transportation stipends, and I'd imagine they're offering Kobe top tear of both compared to what most players get.

Jerry Buss makes money on the Lakers so he probably did not want the lock out, but your point is still valid. It's not really any different than him playing in summer games except he's getting a lot more $$ for it. Plus maybe this will get the playing euro ball thing out of his system.
