OT: Power Balance Fail, Kobe out $400k

Post#1 » by Gek » Wed Nov 23, 2011 4:50 pm

http://www.thepostgame.com/blog/dish/20 ... -nightmare

Bryant is owed $400,000 for giving his seal of approval to the product, reports the Orange County Register. Blake Griffin, Clippers rookie of the year, is out $20,000. Pro skateboarder Ryan Sheckler was supposed to have $25,000 coming his way for his backing. Even several professional sports franchises took a bath.

The NHL's LA Kings are owed $250,491, while the NBA's Sacramento Kings look like Jokers after selling an arena naming rights deal to the company which owes them $100,000 in financial support. Despite the bankruptcy, CBS Sacramento reports the NBA's Kings are standing by Power Balance, calling them "good partners since day one." (So what are bad partners like?)

Lol at the Kings...

How are professional athletes that are locked out supposed to survive without their endorsement money?

Survive? These athletes make more than enough to pay for their lavish lifestyle. If Kobe loses out on 400K, just tell him to go to Europe to earn that within a few months.

On an off note, there are actual people who work at the arenas that are losing out on work and barely can afford to pay for their utility bills. This lock out is hurting a lot of people with less work and opportunity. smh

Poor nba players that make millions of dollars a year. How will they survive? seariously...players shouldve took the deal and been done with it. People dont feel sympathy (atleast people that i know) for millionair ahtletes wanting more money. they knew what they were getting themselves into. how about the people that depend on the nba to put food on the table. what are they going to do

Hey man, I've seen kids with perfectly fine fingers wear finger sleeves just because Kobe does it. These things will sell no matter what it does or does not do.

Pretty much. It always ends up being a fashion statement.

Ignoring the fact that you missed my sarcasm on the survive comment... I understand what you're saying about sympathy and feel the same way, but would you want to go from making 80k to 50k a year to do the same amount of work? No. It's easy going forward, but not always easy going in reverse.

stupid product. I didn't get why people buy this. I understand those players will get paid once they endorse it but I wish they'd be more responsible in what they're promoting since a lot of people look up to them and believe the **** they're saying. goes to show the power of media. and why the hell would a company sell a product and admit later on that it doesn't work? :nonono:

I bet Kobe just signed his name on a contract, let them take a couple of pictures of him wearing it, and wears it in public sometimes. Not a big deal.
