Jim Buss Finally Open To Dealing Bynum
Dec 01, 2011 12:35 AM EST

Jim Buss has finally has dropped his opposition to trading Andrew Bynum "for the right deal", according to a source.
That right deal would almost certainly mean Dwight Howard, who is believed to be highly interested in joining the Lakers.
Some in the agent community have speculated that Bynum may not be the player Orlando would want and that a three-way trade involving Andrew Bogut could be consummated.

Correct me if i'm wrong. Hasn't this always been the echoes from the Lakers. Mitch said no one was untouchable except Kobe. So i'm wondering does that mean a deal is close to being reached for D12 & they're trying to make it sound like something new was said.

I hope it happens, but we won't know until we hear it for ourselves.

IIRC, shortly after we lost in the playoffs Jim Buss did an interview where he essentially said he's not trading Bynum. Then there was speculation that while Phil & Kobe wanted to trade Bynum for Carmelo, Jim was the one who wanted no part of it.
Jim's been in Bynum's corner all along, but it's nice to see that he'll at least entertain a Bynum trade. What I don't understand is how anyone could want Bogut over Bynum. They're both health risks, so you can't say health is a factor.

Basically I think he took a hard stance like that to show other teams to stop coming at the Lakers with B.S. in exchange for Bynum. That Melo deal would have made no sense especially w/o Ne Ne

I can see how Bynum and Dwight's names are involved in a trade rumor but a 3 way deal involving Bogut sounds weird.

Get Baron Davis through the amnesty waivers and then get Dwight for Bynum and our starting line up could look like this
PG: Davis
SG: Bryant
SF: Artest (depending if he gets included in the trade for Howard)/Odom
PF: Gasol
C: Howard
Thats a team that nobody will be able to stop..Baron to Dwight alley-oops will be insane!

With the stipulation in place regarding amnestied players, it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that Baron won't end up a Laker.

Only way Baron becomes a Laker if Baron requests for a buy out from the Cavs and takes less money and takes even less signing with the Lakers.

I'm on the "Should have traded him for Carmelo" camp, so unless we land someoen better than Melo with him (Dwight, CP3, Deron) then this is a little too late. That being said the three I mentioned and Melo are the only veteran stars I would trade him, not counting young talent like Durant, Rose, Griffin etc, and players who can't be had such as Lebron and Wade.

If we can get Dwight for Bynum and not much else that would be awesome.
I've always felt that despite his flashes of huge potential, Bynum has been drastically overrated by our administration. He is too clumsy and heavy footed.
Trade for Dwight pretty pretty please.
