EASY to get CP3 / NOT HARD to get BOTH CP3 & D12 / MUST READ

To those of you who are advocating a Bynum/Odom for CP3/Okafor deal ... STOP IT! The Hornets are in no man's land right now. They have a superstar who has them by the balls and has said he will okay a trade to the Knicks, Magic, Clips and Lakers. The Knicks and Magic have NOTHING to offer. If they were our only competition we could offer Bynum for CP3, $3mil cash and (2) #1s and that would be a better deal than the Magic or Knicks could offer!

Our ONLY competition is the Clippers and they have garbage to offer as well, especially considering they are not offering Blake (and rightly so) or Gordon (due to being much younger than CP3).

The above said, the BEST OFFER THE HORNETS WILL GET FROM A TEAM THAT CP3 WILL AGREE TO RE-SIGN WITH is an offer from the Clips of Bledsoe, Aminu, Wolves #1 pick and the expiring contract of Kamaan ... that's it!

Some goof balls talk about the Wolves pick like it is the holy grail ... gimmer a break. Yes the draft is set to be insanely deep this year but the Wolves have playoff talent and now have a HOF coach. I honestly believe that while they won't have a better record than the Lakers, Thunder, Mavs, Grizz, Spurs or Blazers, I definitely and seriously believe they could land the #7 spot in the Western Conference Playoffs ... especially if CP3 isn't on the Hornets! There is no guarantee that the Wolves pick which the Clippers hold will land them anything more than a role player, ala Tyler Zeller, etc.

So ... all we have to do is beat a Bledsoe/Aminu/Kamaan/(2) #1 picks for CP3 package ... that is EASY to do, especially considering a one year rental of Kamaan has no real value, Bledsoe could be nothing more than Nate Robinson AT BEST and Aminu looks like a career backup wing.

Another thing to understand is that the Clips would not be taking back either of the Hornets two bad contracts in Okafor or Ariza ... we can take back both!

A trade of Pau/Odom/Ebanks/Caracter/rights to D. Morris/(2) 31s/$3mil cash for CP3/Okafor/Ariza is good enough to get er done people!

Pau has a big contract yes but he is only under contract for the same amount of time as the overpaid and under-performing Okafor an Ariza and I can guarantee you the Hornets would kiss the Lakers feet if they offered Pau straight up for Okafor and Ariza. The fact is the Hornets would trade Okafor and Ariza right now for Ebanks/Caracter and the cash, just to get out of their pricey contracts and have money to offer quality free agents! Think about that. The Lakers would then be offering a HOF PF in Pau along with an all-star level talented PF/SF in Odom, along with (2) #1 picks … and the best passing PG in last year’s draft in Darius Morris … for CP3.

I’m telling you right now that a trade of Pau/Odom/Ebanks/Caracter/rights to D. Morris/(2) #1s/$3mil cash for CP3/Okafor/Ariza is good enough to get er done people!!!!

If we are really going to trade Bynum for CP3, I would like to see a Bynum, the rights to Darius Morris and cash straight up for CP3 AT WORST and a Bynum/Barnes/Caracter/WALTON/rights to Morris, cash and picks for CP3 and Okafor AT BEST … under no circumstances do I believe we need to trade Bynum and Odom just to land CP3, let alone CP3 and the bad contract of Okafor!

Now … assuming we pull the CP3/Okafor/Ariza trade off for Pau/Odom and scraps … we can EASILY make the best play for Dwight Howard as well.

Dwight, like CP3 will only re-sign with certain teams, and Dwight, like Shaq before him, also seems to have a particular aversion to cold weather cities (Chicago and NY included) which means or only legitimate competition for Dwight may come from the Clippers as well, though with Dwight they will certainly be happy to increase the value of their trade.

I see the Clippers best offer for Dwight as being Deandre Jordan (signed to a new $8+mil a year contract), Kamaan, Blesoe, Aminu, the expiring contract of Randy Foye, Ryan Gomes, $3mil cash and (2) #1 picks for D12, Arenas, Q-Tip and Daniel Orton. That’s not bad … not bad at all and the Clips could still throw a solid little contract at a free agent SF like Vince Carter and have a starting 5 of Arenas/Gordon/Carter/Griffin/Howard … wow.

HOWEVER … while the above trade would work out nicely for the Clippers, Orlando on the other hand is receiving a project C with a hefty price tag and the same “decent but not very exciting” offer the Hornets would be receiving for Paul, with the added bonus that they get to dump Arenas.

The Lakers, if the above proposed Pau/Odom and spare parts trade went through, could not only offer Dwight the opportunity to play on the real Las Angeles basketball team and with the trio of Kobe, CP3 and Dwight’s buddy Trevor Ariza rather than the “young and talented but haven’t won anything yet and might never” duo of Griffin and Gordon with the already tired act of Gilbert Arenas.

HOWEVER, the real key here is what the Lakers could offer the Magic, namely Andrew Bynum. Bynum may have injury concerns but when healthy he is the second best C in the NBA and regardless he is 3 inches taller than Dwight, bigger, stronger, a 2-time NBA Champion … and … 2 years younger!

The Lakers could offer Bynum, Barnes and Walton for D12 and Hedo Turkoglu and before you scream, “Walton, are you serious?” please understand Walton will cost the Magic $22.42 mil less than Turkoglu and will come off the cap entirely a year earlier. The Magic would therefore really be trading Howard for Bynum, Barnes, $22.42mil cash and a 12 month head start on free agency.

The main thing to consider here is that Dwight, like CP3 has his current team over the barrel and holds all the cards. I believe Dwight wants to play for the Lakers NOW and also that he really would re-sign with the Magic if they could somehow land CP3 (which they can’t) … imagine how bad Dwight will want to be a Laker if they land CP3!

If the Lakers are smart, they will land CP3 NOW … the Clippers will not make that strong a play for him as they want Dwight more, so the Lakers should be able to swoop in and nab CP3 for a great price right now … then … Dwight may be the Lakers for the taking as well as he can EASILY tell the Magic, “Listen you can either trade me to the Lakers for Bynum (or a Pau/Odom combo if we really trade Bynum for CP3) now, or you can watch me walk and sign with the Clippers or Knicks as a free agent next year because I am NOT agreeing to sign an extension with anyone other than the Lakers and therefore no team will offer you much!”

This is how things really work in the dark circles of the NBA people … and since there doesn’t seem to be a lovable, gullible New Jersey Nets team lurking in the shadows this year like there was last year … the Melo scenario will play out far before the Deron Williams scenario this time around … as it should when superstars hold all the cards!

IN CONCLUSION … the Lakers should nab CP3 as fast as possible (with no more than Bynum and filler or a Pau/Odom/filler package but NOT a Bynum/Odom package) to put even more pressure on the Magic, increase the likelihood Dwight says he will ONLY sign an extension with the Lakers, land the two biggest free agents this year and secure they are title contenders for the next 5-7 years!

C'mon man.. I don't like being a d-bag after you put in all that effort, but there's a number of other threads you can put this in--starting with the trade idea thread.
