who would YOU want?

...or would you like to keep the team as constructed?
rumors flowing around say the lakers are trying to lure in both, chris paul and dwight howard. would one be beneficial to LA, or both? or neither?
if i had to choose i'd go with chris paul. Trading away both, bynum+odom for dwight howard seems to steep of a price for me. I'd rather trade bynum for paul (we all know not to trade a big for a small) but when your PG position is like a black hole, you just have no choice. keeping odom, and especially gasol would keep us contending.
i see no reason to trade gasol, the man is the 2nd most talented PF in the game right now. if NOLA is down for a bynum+filler for cp3 swap, im all for it.
they only offer i'd entertain for dwight would be artest+bynum for turkoglu+dwight. anything more, ill pass.
i want some good input and a reason.

oh and as far as 'trades' go...keep in mind that LA has leverage. not the players, not dwight, not paul. most of the leverage is in kupchak's hands. those guys are leaving regardless whether it be lakers, clippers, bulls, celtics or what have you.
im damn sure these players realize the opportunities that flow just by being a player in LA, let alone being a superstar in LA.
(matter of fact, one silly appearance on jimmy kimmel will make them more money than an endorsement

)

i would rather build a package around bynum + odom or artest for dwight + hedo or gilbert.. i just dont see cp3 staying healthy long term with his knee, which is why i prefer build the next era of the lakers around dwight and in the 2012 FA class make a run for deron williams to fill our hole at the PG spot.
i do however agree that we try our best to keep gasol and odom given they both can fill multiple positions on the floor.. i do see the need to get rid of bynum tho and while he is healthy now i believe this is the best time to pull the trigger on a bynum trade.

this offseason is the one where we can get the most for bynum IMO, albeit a very small 10-15 day window. if bynum is dealt, it'll be quick and spontaneous.
the longer they hold on to gasol, the better. he's one of those players to whom age wont play a factor for a long time because he's more skillful than athletic. hes still got a solid 3-4 years left under his belt.
on the flip side, i have no problems keeping bynum. i still consider him the 2nd best center in the L, only behind dwight howard. if we can keep our core and still land a decent 'amnesty' player like baron davis, ill be very, very satisfied.

The OP is INSANE ... you dump Bynum and Odom for Dwight or even Dwight and garbage Hedo ALL DAY LONG, EVERY DAY AND TWICE ON SUNDAYS ... we're talking about Dwight Howard!!!!!!!

Howard, I still like Pau over Cp3.....this team has won all 5 championship with the likes of Fisher, Harper as our starting PG. We just need Blake to show us that blake of Den/Blazer days and this tandem of Pau/Howard would kill anything in their way. It would hurt to Lose Odom but Hedo can fill in that role somewhat, he has shown he is capable when giving the ball to create just a matter of wanting to do it.

I say Dwight Howard...The reason being is Mike Brown will construct our roster to look like the Spurs twin tower days with Robinson and Duncan. Pau Gasol will act as Duncan and Dwight Howard will act as David Robinson.
But if there is a chance we get both..I won't be mad. lol

Dwight Howard, no injury history, more impactful on the defensive side, easy choice.

Chris Paul is my favorite player not on the Lakers but I'd still rather have Dwight Howard and go after someone like Baron Davis later.
Davis/Kobe/Peace/Pau/D12 looks damn good to me.

I would want Howard, but only if we keep Gasol. Keeping Gasol is vital because he can play the 5 when Howard rests or is in foul trouble. The only question is who gets the remaining minutes at the 4? We'd definitely need to pick up someone else so that we have a little bit of depth, unless Caracter takes a giant leap forward and is capable of giving a solid 20 MPG.
It would be much easier to address our remaining weaknesses (West and Davis would fill in nicely, along with Kapono to stretch the floor).

I heard we're getting the rights to the Orlando Magic franchise in exchange for Andrew Bynum and Jim Buss.

Dwight easily. I always found Chris Paul and elite PGs in general overrated.

D12, Kobe can replicate some of CP3`s strengths.
