Sessions or Arenas?

Arenas:
Pros - low risk, high reward, better shooter, can create his own shot
Cons - Dont know what he has left in the tank, its up in the air if he fits in the system
Sessions:
Pros - younger , better passer, faster (which is a big need for LAL)
Cons - Need to trade for him giving up what exactly not sure yet, poor shooter
As long as we dont give up too much for him, I'd say go with the younger dude Sessions!

You forgot one other pro for Arenas. He has experience playing with Blake. They actually know each other quite well from the few games they've played against each other.
Also, Arenas is not low risk. He can potentially be a team cancer if you try to squeeze him into a role like "give the ball to Kobe" plays. He's the type of player who plays best if you don't task him on offense. This is where Brown will really show himself as a coach. Will he go full Arenas like he went full Lebron or will he try to please Kobe?
Arenas can also no longer create his own shot. He can create his own plays though and he can take good shots that don't count as his own shot because he tends to miss them. He's also only a better shooter compared to Sessions but that gap is slight since Orlando (contrary to popular belief, SVG is a great coach and as horrible as Arenas was he had great opportunities with Orlando but he couldn't hack it in a shooting-centric team.)
Either way, once one of this thing happens you'll all soon realize the Lakers problem is not the point. Neither Arenas nor Sessions would be playing up to par during the playoffs for reasons out of their control and Brown still won't have any answers for the opposing team unless one of the roster is lighting it up.

Arenas isn't the same great shooter he was. He looked terrible in Orlando and were banged up most of the time. If it's true he's worked out and are in perfect shape he might be a good shooter again but that's a big if.

Arenas. You get him dirt cheap and get the same production Sessions would give you. Plus he's a proven clutch player and former three time all star. Not to mention Dwight liked him in Orlando

This.
Kidding aside, I'd try my luck with Arenas. We don't need to give one of our picks to get him. Motivated Arenas can still be a good player.

Our 2 picks are going to be low. So the trade value is not that high. Arenas is just there, all you have to do is write a check for the league min.
WOuld love to get sessions, but now that other teams know the lakers want him or looked at him, the price is going to go up.

who else would want Sessions?
damn. Arenas used to be clutch, has playoff experience, and a very lethal scorer. Sessions can take advantage of PnR's with Bynum and Gasol and a heck of a threat in the open court and is a better passer compared to the PG's LA has. and I don't mind his shooting at all.
only problem I have with Sessions is we have to give up a lot for him unlike Arenas, as most have said already.

I think arenas' passing is underrated. He avg'd 29 and 6 assists before. He has passing ability and can probably throw the ball in the post better than most. He can be lethal from 3 and he's only 30. he played last year so he aint no bonzi wells or antoine walker. We just need him to be a spark off the bench, and if nothing else, go in the corner and hit 3's off double teams.
Being a cancer is something that doesnt really make sense. That stuff doesnt really happen on a laker team with kobe. Kobe could be the cancer but if anyone else is, they get shipped out. Arenas shouldnt have an ego anymore. broken long time ago. As long as he's healthy, i would love to have arenas. dude was and hopefully could still be a straight beast.

Sessions 3 ball yes has barely improved to 33% but this guy has a mid-range. Put the ball in his hands on a team like the Lakers and he is going to put up huge stats. He's a big improvement and his jumper can still improve, he's only 25 after all. I would love to see what kind of numbers Rondo would have without talent around him. Sessions could match Rondo's numbers with a little bit better shooting. If you can get Sessions and perhaps Martell Webster to replace the non-shooters at SF you could finally have the Spurs formula:
- PG who can penetrate but need not shoot the 3 just the mid-range
- Kobe and the SF spread the floor playing off the ball for easy shots
- Gasol in the high post with Bynum in the low

Its agreed atleast that Arenas is not a cancer threat any longer, those ego days are gone and we wont be paying him much so incase any trouble starts u can easily drop him like a bad habit
he knows this also and is not gonna screw it up again.
i still like the upside of a younger more, but the arenas potential is decent enough i suppose to make a run at him as well
sessions also is def a better passer and penetrator (no pun intended), but seriously he can create alot of easy bucket for himself and the other 4 guys on the floor cuz of his speed and passin ability which is what we need! a PG Who can create for us w all the talent lakers starting 5 has

Also can Arenas be consistent guy for us? i know he probably has it in him to give us big nights here and there but seriously we need a guy who can run an offense at the pg position on a nightly basis and for that matter he is old, lakers are too slow and old, and our bench is too young and inexperienced which def shows.
Flip side is Arenas potential maxes out, that would be huge, but its still a big IF
Sessions u know what you get for the most part..

team cancer? Where are you getting that from? The wizards sucked with him and they sucked without him. The magic didn't have any drop off with him. It's an absurb concept. His teamates all say they liked him!

Flynn form Houston, Vasquez from New Orleans or Barbosa/Bayless fromTproanot... Those are the solutions...

He just turned 30 yrs old this month, and wants to be a Laker. Have they even had him in for a workout at the very least?

Sessions. I prefer someone who can get to the rim, not another low percentage chucker. We have enough of those. Especially one with bad knees.
