Lakers held private workout for Arenas

Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak is awaiting word on details of a workout Gilbert Arenas is planning in Los Angeles later this week and is open-minded about attending, two people with knowledge of the situation told CBSSports.com Wednesday.

Although the Lakers have publicly been noncommittal about whether to pursue the three-time All-Star, Kupchak has nothing to lose by evaluating Arenas as a potential solution to the team's point guard woes. The workout date has not yet been set, but Kupchak is said to be willing to attend depending on timing and logistics.

"The Lakers are going to take a look at him," one of the people familiar with the matter said.

If we look at him there's more of a chance we sign him than if we were to never look at him at all.

Great news IMO. A washed up Arenas is still in every single way, much better than grandpa Fisher ,or Johnny Flynn.

this'll get us Dwight. then sign Hughes and trade for Jamison and we have our DC big three baby!

but seriously, this is just a stop gap. it's better signing someone than trading some pieces that may be used for a bigger deal.

Arenas=better than nothing, worth what he'd get paid
Flynn=pointless, unless its for luke and the spirit of pig miller
Sessions=better than nothing, worth a late 1st rd pick but only after those picks can't help go big
Rondo=worth it outside of Kobe, Bynum
Deron=worth it outside of Kobe

If nothing works out for the bigger boys, I am a fan of Barbosa and his expiring contract fitting into the TPE. Maybe JJ Barea but that made my brain hurt typing that.

this is alittle off topic but i rather have arenas then trading pau for rondo, i know rondo is an insane competitor but his inability to shoot consistently makes him a huge liability on offense.

so if the rumors are true i would much rather stand pat and sign arenas

btw i heard the rumor on 710

Clippers Uninterested In Arenas
The Clippers have "zero" interest in signing Gilbert Arenas, according to a source.

pau gasol for rondo, even though im confident the lakers wouldnt do this deal, i was just saying i much rather have arenas then having to cough up one of our bigs for a point guard who cant shoot

i doubt this even comes close to happening

Lakers chances went way down when other teams got an invite. Now it might be about the money which Lakers do not have. So someone holding onto the mini mid level might give it to him and Lakers are out again.

Lets hope he's all about playing for his hometown instead of the cash.

Kind of embarrassing if we sign him - But pretty much a low risk/high reward type of situation. There would be nothing I would enjoy more than if he actually played really well, just for the fact that we would be trolling the league big time.

I think he will sign with us and when he does he will **** on everyone for doubting him.

Bank on it, Arenas will be our starting P.G in this season.
