I am convinced that Kobe is slower now than he was JUST LAST

Post#1 » by PineTreez » Sun Feb 12, 2012 9:33 am

SEASON.

I am not trying to nitpick. And, I know I made a thread similar to this a bit ago.

It's just that I was watching highlights on YouTube and came across these two, perfect for a comparison and now I can get my point across with ease unlike the last post lol.

HERE IS WHAT I'M WONDERING. What exactly did that **** ing surgery do?!

Made him jump higher? He was still throwing it down against the Hornets last year.

Make him quicker, make his foot speed quicker? Not according to these two videos.

I'm just trying to figure out what the surgery did, if he's not even quicker than last season. :o

But was it just me, or do you guys think that he was quicker in that first video as well?

You can't really base it off two videos but having watched every single game last season and this season, he clearly looks better now. More elevation, more strength. It just sucks that he's playing more minutes with new coach and lockout schedule isn't exactly helping

One is an all-star game. One is an actual game. One is against Rose, the other against Gay.

I'm not saying Rose is a terrible defender, but its clearly a miss match and once Kobe started is drive, Rose just let him go by (its an All-star game). Gay gave him a slight bump on his way to the basket which was clearly visible, which slowed his momentum to the basket.

I agree with the fact that one is an All Star Game and one is a regular season game so its tough to compare effort. Nice find on the similar moves but I think its because of how Rudy played Kobe. Rudy and Rose both start trying to force him inside. When Kobe took the step past Rose, Rose tried to pull a quick flip into position but Kobe was gone. With Rudy, he starts to change up his stance and faces up so when Kobe makes the move, he only has to turn a little bit to cover Kobe. Although its a close comparison, I think thats why one looked like a complete breakdown of Rose and the other was a little tougher baseline drive on Gay.

i believe since the 09-10 season kobe has decline, stats aside i dont see kobe carrying us anymore in long stretches like he use to be able to do with ease. imo kobe needs to do a better job at changing his game up like jordan did later in his career. jordan let his guys do more of the heavy lifting through out the beginning of the game and took over towards the end and in last mins situations. Kobes still goes balls out in every single possession, and pair the up with the long mins that mike brown is playing him i dont know how much gas if any kobe will have come playoffs.

LOL....the surgery wasn't going to make him quicker, he's 33 ! The surgery was to alleviate the pain in his knee that's it.

It's the workload...

Let him get a PG that can regulate him to post ups and spot up shooting for a few weeks he'll be back in the form he was in at the beginning of the year.

I was never a big Kobe fan for whatever reason but I have to admit, this year I want him to win MVP. It is not only Kobe but Lakers in general declined during the years and without Kobe even 8th seed could be hard to reach with the rest of squad. Kobe plays hard and he is obviously trying to prove something, this guy already won a lot but somehow he was always hated, he knows that if he can win it again for one last time when he is considered to be an underdog aging star, even the biggest doubters will take hats off to Kobe.

Nowitzki did it last year, for the last chance he had! why not Kobe? I believe if Lakers remains healthy during playoffs, Kobe will play as hard as one can do and with a legit help from Bynum, Lakers can upset the Heat Trio, Lin York, Rose and OKC.

First(and last) time in his career I cheer for Kobe this season.

Jordan also had Pippen, who could facilitate and take a ton of pressure off of him, no one can do that for Kobe.

It's not supposed to make him quicker than ever.. it's supposed to make him quicker than he was with a hurting knee

gasol is arguably the best passing big man in the league and loves getting the open man the ball. kobe needs to trust his teammates more and save his legs for the second half. hes not the young kobe that can drop 81 anymore, the problem is he plays like he still can sometimes. im not saying kobe should be this facilitator but just throw the ball into gasol run some screens and find the open man in rythm. shots will fall eventually its just a matter of players getting comfortable with their roles.
