OT: Farmar Playing Well

Post#1 » by ALL HAIL » Tue Feb 14, 2012 6:06 pm

I know I wasn't alone in saying that Farmar could really play in this league, but that he was just always a bad fit in the triangle.

Now that the triangle is gone, too bad he's putting up these numbers for another team in 22 minutes a game:

11 points, 48% shooting, 46% 3PT shooting, 93% FT shooting, 3.5 assists

He is probably still an average defender and probably still looks for his own offense more than he should, but damn if he wouldn't help us alot right now.

Good to see dude getting some run.

I always liked him. There's no doubt he stepped up for us when it mattered most in the playoffs, which is more than I can say of a lot of players. Loved his athleticism and ability to take it to the basket

...and speaking of the past, Shannon Brown made the Yahoo NBA front page because his wife is hurting due to Whitney Houston death.

You gotta put it in context. He's a good player but that nets team has been decimated by injuries. They were putting out shawne Williams Sheldon Williams Johan Petro bogans. Are U kidding me? Nasty. So if farmar didn't put up some numbers it would've been weird

You know it's bad in Laker land when there are people actually thinking Farmar could save the Lakers

Farmar has never been a bad player. He just didn't fit under Phil's system. And those games that he started, he was pretty freakin efficient.

The thing about Jordan that none of our other active guards have is the ability to run. Run run run. We have been one of the worst fast break teams since we dismantled our bench in 09. He kind of lost his groove a little bit when Ariza left, but I have no doubt he'd be better than the dudes we're dealing with now. He'd make Andrew, Barnes, Kobe, and McRoberts run up and down the court. We lack that energy he used to provide.

Former Lakers scrub playing well on a basement dweller. It was bound to happen, no? Good for him but I don't miss him at all.

his skillset wasnt particularly helpful in the triangle, but how important is our need for dribble penetration and proper pick and roll usage?

its not rocket science, but its not hard to see how dumbo could help

Empty stats. Farmar is no better than Fisher.

Farmar was already given his chances. He didn't work out not because the triangle restricted him, but because he's incapable of playing well when he's given a backup role. He's not good enough to start either so the Lakers is not the place for him.

I'd honestly rather haver Farmar than Fisher, though.

Phil's tri screwed up a lot of small guards that could have helped the lakers. he only wanted 6'6 guards and lakers lost a lot of chances at smaller guards. Fisher being the exception. J Farm was good and he did some things well. Just never got the mintues under phil as no young players got minutes with phil.
