Lakers interested in Paul Pierce

Post#1 » by Mos Def » Fri Mar 2, 2012 4:59 am

While trade rumors regarding the Lakers are plentiful this year and reports indicating that the Lakers are extremely active on the trade front.. I figured what the heck, why not discuss another rumour..

While much of the trade buzz surrounding the Boston Celtics has been about young All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo, a report today indicated that it’s two other C’s generating more attention from GMs around the league. Paul Pierce and Ray Allen are both getting a lot of interest, according to Comcast SportsNet New England.

The Los Angeles Clippers are considered a frontrunner to land Allen, should Danny Ainge and the Celtics choose to deal him. The Clips have an opening at the shooting guard position with the season-ending injury to Chauncey Billups, and Allen’s expiring contract would make for an easy two-month rental to fill the void.

The Clips are also one of the teams in on Pierce, along with the L.A. Lakers and Houston Rockets, but Pierce is a bit trickier contractually — he’s signed through 2014 and still owed another $32 million after this season. Pierce is still going strong as the youngest of the team’s veteran Big Three. At age 34, he’s averaging 17.2 points per game to lead the team.

The Celtics are an even .500, 17-17, going into tomorrow night’s tilt with the New Jersey Nets. The trade deadline is fast approaching on March 15.

I've never liked Pierce myself, but when a player you dislike comes to your team.. feelings can change lol

Anyways, he would fill the 3 spot perfectly on the team... good 3 point shooter and defender... could even leave him in the game with the bench crew to help things continue to flow... he'd give the Lakers some really nice options much like Lamar provided...

Only problem is the asking price... Celtics would likely want a significant piece back as Pierce is probably their second best player/trade chip...

If we make a move, I hope it's to get younger and more financially flexible. This is neither.

No Pierce unless Rondo is coming with him.

Yeah like tycobb said, I don't see this as a fit in any way. This makes sense for a team with a wider window like the clippers who already have their foundation set financially age-wise and talent wise.

Besides the fact that it'll be a cold day in hell when the celtics trade Paul Pierce to the Lakers, Do Not Want!

We don't need another slow post up halfcourt player, especially since he doesn't play the point guard position. Would I take him for free? sure. Would I trade Gasol for him? Hell no unless rondo is coming along, which the celtics would never do. Unless the Celtics want a blake, Walton and 2 first package, which they don't, this wins as the silliest rumor this whole year.

It's like if Karl Malone was a Laker.

As always, it is a new rumor a day. Just waiting for the Derick Rose to the Lakers rumor. Maybe Peter V. can get behind that one. Just like Wallace to the Lakers. Has not happened yet. I hope it never happens. Let the clock hit midnight and we will wake up the next morning to another new one.

I'd seriously stop watching this team for a good amount of the year if they traded for Rondo or Pierce. That goodness it will never happen.
