Highly speculative on your part that hey would wait that long to do everything in grand fashion as opposed to making headway with a deal right now.

Rival executives believe the Blazers are interested in exploring a swap of Felton to the Lakers for Steve Blake, with L.A. sending another piece to make the salaries match and compensate the Blazers for getting the better player and future cost savings in the deal. The Portland coaching staff and front office are comfortable with Blake, who could provide a calming presence as the team battles through numerous distractions.

not that bad, especially if dont give up a 1st this yr...Blake/Felton do nothing for us either way but at least Felton expires :D , think its safe to say Blake wont be worth his salary for the next 2yrs.

It'd more than likely be a deal in place in case a trade with Houston or Boston falls through. I don't have a problem with it if no picks are being exchanged.

meh don't have a problem with it now since hes an expiring contract. If he does well, great, re-sign him, if not, PEACE OUT FATTY.

Last i heard was that ATL didn't want to salary dump Hinrich, so that's not a possiblity.

Felton for Blake

TPE, 1st rd pick for Beasley and Randolph/Webster

The only player that works out salary wise with a Felton for Blake swap is McRoberts.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=796nuxn

Everyone else's contract needs to be combined with 1-2 more players to cover Felton's 7.5 coming in.

This does allow us to keep our picks however, which could maybe get us Beasley to try as a backup 4?

Blake + Luke works as well...

True but the report says we'd have to send more value than just Blake to get Felton, not less. I figured that automatically excluded Luke.

I understood it as Portland looking for extra compensation since la is getting the best player in the deal. So in order for la to send a first round pick they would want Portland to take on additional salary, hence why I think Luke and Blake make sense. I still don't agree on wasting a pick for Felton.

I like Blake and how he's playing, but he isn't quite a difference maker and hasn't helped THAT much. Felton has potential to be very good for us, sometimes a change of scenery and system can do wonders.

If we could replace Blake and McRoberts with Felton and Beas and only give up the TPE and one pick, that would be fab. With the way MWP is resurging, Beas could play the backup 4 mins, he's better then Murph in almost every aspect.

It would keep most of our chemistry together and give us a bit more firepower come playoff time. i'd be happy rolling into the playoffs with that. Fish would prolly still start but the Felton would play the majority of the minutes.

Fish/Felton
Kobe/Glock
MWP/Barnes (Beas)
Pau/Beas
Drew/Murph

felton is hot garbage on the half court, so I think he'd play better off the bench, surrounding with shooters + bynum creating space.

but then he'd complain about being benched.

if he's the best we can sign then I'll be very sad.

I'd take him for blake+mcrambis because he's an expiring but I'm afraid Jim's Bartender would give a big long-term contract next year for him, then he'd be the next luke walton..

Other than this season, Felton has been a solid starting PG most of his career. He's also one of those guys that looks fat (compared to other NBA players) even though he's in game shape. I don't see him as a long term fit for this team but I'd take him any day for blake. He's expiring and as long as we don't give him a fat long term contract he'll do.
