I'm sorry, but ...

Bynum should be traded, not Gasol.

For the last three or four seasons I've been screaming for the Lakers to trade one of Gasol or Bynum for a legit PG ... up until the epic playoff meltdown, I thought that player should be Gasol because I thought he still held more value.

Now, it is clear that Bynum not Gasol would give the Lakers the best, most dynamic PG available.

Andrew Bynum's value across the league gives the Lakers the best chance of actually winning more championships before Kobe retires.

Also, and very importantly, the front office needs to stop hoping that Kobe will change his game.

KOBE IS NEVER GOING TO CHANGE HIS GAME. He's hard-headed as hell and will get his regardless of who else is on the squad.

Kobe will NEVER allow Bynum to truly get his shine. Bynum could go 12 for 12 in a game, but Kobe will still take his mandatory 26 shots on 44% shooting, that's just the way he plays.

If I were in charge, I'd make the decision between Bynum and Kobe. My decision would be Kobe.

Moving forward, Bynum would be let go for the best, young PG available (Curry, Wall, Lowry, D. Williams, whoever).

Please note that this is not some knee jerk reaction to last night's game. Bynum could net the Lakers practically any PG in the league right now and a solid backup to Gasol.

It's simple mathematics to me (and everyone knows I love Drew's game -- he just won't be able to truly move to the next plateau with Kobe here doing his selfish Jordan thing).

I'd trade Bynum for Wall and McGee.

^Yeah ... whatever man.

That's cool.

I really don't give a damn who that mythical PG is (Wall would fit my young, dynamic description), but I'm more interested in thoughts about stepping out of the box and talking about the idea of trading Andrew Bynum while his value is through the roof.

In my opinion, we should/ve dumped Gasol after the second ring (while his value was at it's highest) and we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

Why not sell Bynum while his value is double that of Gasol's? Bynum would get us the better player and Gasol is the better compliment to Kobe (than Bynum).

It's an easy decision (Jimmy's Bynum gizms not withstanding).

Say what you want about this being a Gaurds league now, but big men like Dwight and Bynum are so rare to come by. I do not know what the solution is for the squad, but trading Bynum would only look good short term. I don't want to harp on the past but trading odom was so f**k'n stupid. I mean, if we had both odom and gasol to move around it would of been much better. Gasol will not net us the pg we need. All we can hope for is Nash demanding a trade (lol unlikely).

But to get back to your point, I personally wouldn't give up Bynum. The kid is a stud and is showing a great big man skill set. I guess its a damned if you and damned if you dont situation.

But what if a GREAT, YOUNG PG came in return (for Bynum)?

It's not just losing Bynum, which would be a tremendous loss, but it's also gaining a tremendous PG.

Imagine Curry or Wall or D. Williams or Westbrook or Iguodala or Turner or Irving or Lowry or Rondo or Rubio or Parker or hell even Paul in Purple and Gold.

Bynum could quite literally nab us any PG in the league except Derrick Rose (maybe Chris Paul this year).

Bynum + pick for Lee + Curry

Golden State would never do that trade. Even if they were willing to part ways with Seph, he's as injury prone as a 30 something year old Rip Hamilton. Definite no.

Curry's having some ankle issues already in his young career...for Gasol yes,for Bynum not sure if I'd want him

I'd only trade Bynum if we get Howard in return
Or Westbrook+Ibaka, which is not gonna happen

Gasol has to go,not Bynum(even if we get less for him)..age,contract,play are all in favor of Bynum...only injury concerns take him back a little bit

If Houston agrees to offer us the same package(we'll even throw Blake to backup Lowry) they did in the CP3 deal I'd run with it(Scola+Martin+Dragic)without thinking twice

Assuming Bynum stays healthy for a while, I wouldn't give him up unless it was a superstar pg (like deron) or Dwight. Bigs like him are harder to come by nowadays and we could always land an above average pg too build around him later on.

No way in hell we trade the 2nd best center in the league for a guard. The most likely scenario is trading Gasol for upgrade at the PG/SF spots.

I think there's only one guard you would have to get back if you were to trade Bynum, and that would be Derron WIlliams, other than that it needs to be Dwight, otherwise you need to look to trade Gasol or even take a shot at the Sessions/Beasely experiment...

Makes sense All Hail but then what do you do at the Center position?

Bynum is better than Pau, not to mention years younger as well.

Bynum is better than Pau at Center but not as an overall basketball player.

Bynum's court vision has been improving though. I think he's finally taking the game seriously these past two years and that means more tape, more practice and more focus on footwork, positioning and court vision.

I actually think Pau is more effective as a Center than PF. I agree with All Hail actually. Bynum is the chip that will bring in the most talent. Although I support Bynum and believe that he is one of the only few real C's in the league, I have to say I would roll the dice on Bynum for Deron Williams.

In the off-season Dwight would see Deron, Kobe, Gasol. If we could somehow get under the cap (likely not going to happen) he would definitely sign with us.

Obviously Anklebreaker, Gasol would play center.

If you think he can't play center, I really don't know what to say to convince you.

As far as I'm concerned, he's been playing center for the last three years.

Nice to see that some folks are seeing eye to eye with me.

I think Bynum's value has the potential to nab the Lakers almost any PG in the league except Rose.

I love the idea of a healthy Steph Curry, a humbled John Wall, or Kyrie Irving (yes I think Bynum's value could nab him as well).

Deron Williams is the best PG alongside Paul, but I really think he'll be happy playing next to Howard in BK or in Dallas.

Wall, Curry, and Irving represent the best dynamic young PGs that could be nabbed sometime during or after the draft in June.

For the record though, I'd rather have Bynum over Gasol, but Gasol, at this point (sigh) will not allow you to get a top shelf PG (and quality bigman) ... Bynum very well could.

My vision is Bynum/Blake (plus filler) for dynamic PG/quality PF or C (plus filler).

ALL HAIL, Pau can't play center on a full time basis. Disregard what his output is, he can't handle the rigors nor pounding over an 82 game schedule. This is part of the reason he faded in the second half of the season last year. He's not physically built to withstand what that position calls for.

I've said many times before, yes the Lakers would do well on certain nights with him there. But long term they don't win titles.......simple as that. But I get the gist of what you're trying to get at, it would be about acquiring a vast amount of talent......I get it, but not Pau at the 5. That doesn't work.

I have zero confidence in Gasol playing the 5 at this point, especially at the defensive end. The guy will literally step aside to allow opposing guards into the lane at times and at the offensive end, he's constantly shying away from contact these days.
