Phil Jackson intrigued by the Knicks

Sources say that Phil Jackson is intrigued with the idea of using his system with the current Knicks roster. As a Laker fan I don't know what to think about that. Kind of a slap in the face if you ask me. Your thoughts?

Meh, he can go where he wants, he helped bring us 5 championships.

At the same time he grew up a Knicks fan, played for them and was part of why they won, learned the game from Red, and so on. You can't blame him for being intrigued.

That said when the choice was LA or NY he chose LA when their roster was worse and he had a lot to repair. You always have to respect him for that as he chose at the bottom and took us back to the top when guys like Riley or Brown would have never touched us. Phil gave us 5 rings, 7 finals, many memories, developed Kobe/Fish/Andrew into starters, made Shaq/Pau/Odom winners, and maximized many role players here. At the end of the day he is the Greatest Coach in history for the league and the Lakers. Staples is the house he built alongside Kobe hand in hand, and he will have his statue outside.

If he is healthy enough to coach, be happy for him as he loves the game and would be doing a great service for it if he revived the Knicks like he did us twice before

Why should it matter, I got five chips with him. I wish him well if he take the job, hell maybe I'll watch the Knicks

I wish him well with the Knicks. I don't mind him leaving for the Knicks. He gave us five championships, he can do whatever he wants.

opposite. pg numbers go down to zilch under the triangle. lin would be lucky to get 5 assists a game. melo will explode under phil tho

The Knicks have issues that go beyond coaching. They aren't an established elite team struggling to get over the hump in the playoffs (Jordan's Bulls, Shaq/Kobe Lakers), they're a bunch of lesser talented parts struggling just to get the 8th seed.

They gutted their roster to bring in Anthony. Since then, they've brought in Baron Davis, Tyson Chandler and recently acquired JR Smith. It should seem apparent to everyone outside of New York that the GM is just slapping stuff on a wall in hopes of something sticking. I think Phil should save himself the stress, wait until the Heat are bounced out and lead Miami to multiple titles. :D

lmao

did anybody bother to read the article?

the "source" quote is that Phil would likely be intrigued. meaning Phil has not said anything to anybody and some yahoo in NY thinks Phil probably is intrigued by the Knicks roster. that's like some yahoo at realm posting that Phil is intrigued by the Knicks.

im pretty sure nobody has talked to phil, this came from somebody saying he would likely be fascinated by them. But i dont see how that team is a good fit for the triangle, a bunch of selfish players who cant pass. Amare has relegated to Hakim Warrick. Why would Phil take on a headache like the knicks?

I wouldnt mind PJ in New York. The harder it is for the Heat to win a championship the better.

Yeah I'm sure Phil is thrilled at the thought of Amar'e and Chandler being his pivot men. Someone is talking out of his ass for hits.

Without a Kobe Bryant, and 08-10 Pau was a far better player than Amare now, and I could argue that he might have been better than the current Melo. And lets not give Lin so much credit until we see what he does outside of MDA's system, and his game translates terribly into the triangle. PJ is a god, but I doubt even he could make contenders out of that NY team. The thought of Lin, Amare, and Melo in the triangle make me cringe.

There would be different expectations for Lin in the triangle. I've never looked at him as just a PG and the triangle doesn't need a PG. He's going to have to be a better spot up 3pt shooter for sure, but that can be worked on and has been worked on. He could end up with the Jordan Farmar role, but different in the sense that Lin has played comfortable as a combo guard. However, with all the reports of Lin's work ethic, willingness to work with the coaches, and his overall adjustments his entire basketball, he's the type of player that I can see fitting in the triangle. I see Shumpert's role increasing as well.

The main issue I see is how well Melo and Amare would do under the triangle as the main options , and how often will they feel the need to break from the triangle. Then there's the defensive side to all of this.
