Derek Fisher Appreciation Thread

So Odom gets a thread and Fisher doesn't? Looking beyond his suckness of recent years, I actually think Fisher's going to be missed. The guy has hit some big shots for us and has kind of become a recognizable face of the Lakers next to Kobe. Yes he contributed absolutely nothing on the court, but off the court is where I think he true value was. The guy was a role model to all of the players on this team, even Kobe. So as we look at this screenshot of him taken before ESPN photoshops him into Rockets gear, let's gaze upon his horrendous PPG/APG/RPG along with his startling PER that cut off, and remember that while us RealGMers could've done a better job on the court, I don't think anyone is going to replace what Fisher brought to this team and organization.

No way does Fish get his number retired. But if the Lakers had a Role Players Hall of Fame, he'd be first ballot, no question.

Good call Jetset... I was just going to do this...

I will really, really miss Fish... Lots of good times with him at the point. Lots of big plays.

But I think it was time to move on.

Thanks, Fish!

Anyone have the lumberjack-chomp-after-a-three gif? lol

Will miss his focus, intensity and sportsmanship. Was super clutch as well. Great all around guy.

I want him to retire now, or come back and take a role in management or something for the Lakers.

So Fisher and Odom get an appreciation thread, but Luke Walton doesn't? I am appalled.

He's had a great career as a Laker and had been a key component to every championship run with Kobe. It's extremely unfortunate his last couple years have been tough to watch on the court due to his diminished skills and LA"s lack of finding a suitable replacement, and doubly so that it has to end with him being traded at the deadline.

Hopefully he comes back after this season ends( I believe it's just no same season return on players who are bought out), so he can finish his career as a Laker coming off the bench.

Only players that live up to the "play" part of their job titles get appreciation threads

The Lakers only retire numbers for hall of famers. If he had played for Boston or some other team he probably would though
