Will Sessions Opt Out?

He'll be paid 4.5 mill next year if he doesn't.

I think he knows he's worth moer than that and he'll opt out.

How many years and how much money per year will he be worth?

I'm thinking 3 years, 20 million (6.5 per year) ... but I'm a cheap bastard.

if he graduates to starting PG with starter minutes, then yes, he'll opt in

I don't think he will, well based on his gestures and what he has said so far. Dream come true lalalala having 2 7 footers isn't fair lalalala

He was planning to opt out with the Cavs, so if he's chasing money (and why wouldn't he be?) then there's a damn good chance he'll still do that.

is there a team with cap space out there that would drive his price above 5mil per yr?

Hopefully not. There's always someone willing to overpay for talent though, so you never know. If we're willing to pay Steve Blake $4 million per year...

Is there a team with cap space out there where he could play with an actual team?

The only way he opt's out is if he wraps up the season on a rampage with points and assist's.
He seems pretty humble and i dont see it happening but LA does strange things to transplants!

well depending upon his success in the playoffs, the lakers will gladly give this 25 year old PG about 5mil a year.

Right on the money dude.

I'm actually surprised that the few responses have intimated that he's opt in.

In my book he's definitely opting out ... even though the Lakers will continue to start Blake (in hopes that he increases his own value) and continue to bring Sessions off the bench (in hopes that he will solidify the bench AND keep his value from shooting through the roof).

I hope he doesn't get signed for more than 6.5 million per year for three years.

Kupchak has got to start signing guys to reasonable deals.

As good and as savvy as he is in negotiating trades, you'd think he'd be alot more savvy in signing guys.

If he's number stay about the same I cant see him opting out where will he get more than 4m a year. If he was still with the Cavs behind Irving where he'll never start opting out made sense.

I hope we resign him. But I think he will be with a new team next year. Lakers do not want to pay, just save money. So he is history.

We'll extend him... Not sure if we do it before or after he has to opt out, but we'll extend him reasonably for a starting PG. Being starting PG for the Lakers is pretty hard to give up... And I firmly believe that's what he'll be by the Playoffs...

But this off season, I also wouldn't be too surprised if we picked up another starting quality PG along with the SF... Our PG rotation is still too weak.

I would love it if Sessions was our second best PG... I just am not sure how we do that financially.

Some Lakers fans have to get over wanting a superstar PG Sessions is as good as its going to get for now how can people say they would love having Sessions as the Lakers second best PG outside of a star there is nothing else out there. Unless u guys want to wait until Rose, Rubio, and Westbrook to opt out.

And Laduane the Lakers will do everything to resign Sessions if he opts out their not totally in money saving mode especially if it has to do with the most talented PG the Lakers have had since Payton and best young one since Van Exel.

Obviously, He would opt out to get more money. It doesn't matter what he does, though. Mitch already said that he will match any qualifying offer made to him. On the other hand, it's hard to imagine he would want to leave an elite team like this, in such a great city like this, culture-wise and weather-wise.

So we're asking this question about the person that was so excited about being a Laker that he boarded a plane and rushed to LA just so he could play with his new teammates, when there were questions over when he'd actually debut?

Sessions was going to opt out because Cleveland has some guy name Kyrie Irving, who no matter what he wasn't going to start over.

Maybe, but whether or not hes going to remain a laker shouldnt even be a question
