Obligatory Bought Out Player Thread: Boris Diaw Edition

Post#1 » by Gek » Wed Mar 21, 2012 5:47 pm

So Boris Diaw got bought out by the Bobcats and just like most other bought out guys, he comes with baggage (quite literally... the dude's weight fluctuates like crazy and his motivation to score comes and goes), but I feel like he could actually help our bench.

Ball Don't Lie, Yahoo! wrote:Diaw will hit your cutters. He can't help it, despite his attempts at remaining completely anonymous. Even on Charlotte's 30th-ranked offense (perhaps better known as The Worst Offense You've Ever Seen) over a quarter of the possessions Diaw used up ended in an assist for the center. That would leave you enthused until you remember his 41 percent shooting, or the fact that the guy that doesn't shoot enough somehow still shoots too many three-pointers.

The possibility of seeing him increase Bynum's touches off the bench and an actual passer in the second unit is intriguing. Maybe being back on the West Coast will motivate him to get in shape and play like he's a Sun again; however, if he jacks 3s and gets fatter, I don't want him.

I would love to see us end up with Diaw, he would give us a great replacement for Odom as our 3rd big. He can take the 25 mpg or so that are left af PF from Gasol's rest and minutes at C while Bynum rests. It seems like McRoberts and Murphy just keep getting worse, so sign me up.

I remember Diaw on the Suns, I liked how he fit there and think he would help with our second unit's interior passing which is pretty awful and usually isn't utilizing Bynum effectively.

Spurs have been a little active lately, seems they're going for a final push in the Duncan/Manu/Parker era.

He's in a competition with Baron Davis and Raymond Felton for fattest NBA player.

It tells you something when the Bobcats buy out a player. He's a waste of a roster spot.

sometimes that's the fate of old, over-paid veterans when you have cheap, young, energetic, up and coming players in your team. they become expendable. worth a look imo. better than Sheed probably. and Murphy.

Blazers releasing Mehmet Okur

Chris Sheridan ‏ @sheridanhoops
Blazers sign JJ Hickson. More important, they release Mehmet Okur, who should land somewhere: http://wp.me/p1Ogzi-2IW

Isn't Boris like 500 pounds or something? Guess he took cues from Felton.

Diaw is done as a roast he likes to grub on. If he got gun shy in Charlotte, how do you expect he'll help here ? Silas even said the boy wouldn't shoot the rock.
