Ebanks' Agent wants Brown to give his client more PT

LA Times

Lack of playing time may affect Devin Ebanks' future with Lakers, says agent

The Lakers might have found their point guard of the future in Ramon Sessions, but the search for a small forward could be underway in a few months.

Matt Barnes is in the last year of his contract, Metta World Peace might be a candidate to be waived after the season via the one-time "amnesty" provision, and Luke Walton is now in Cleveland.

There's also the strange case of the disappearing Devin Ebanks.

Ebanks' Agent said a lack of playing time could affect his Lakers' future after the second-year player becomes a restricted free agent July 1 … especially if the incumbents returned.

"If Coach Mike Brown is going to play with Matt Barnes and World Peace next season, Devin's not going to come back and do that," agent David Bauman told The Times. "He'll find a better opportunity where he can have a chance to break into a rotation."

Ebanks, 22, was expected to be a sleeper for the Lakers but was removed by Brown from the starting lineup after four games. Since then, he's either at the end of the bench or in the Development League.

"Just staying a professional at all times," said Ebanks, averaging 2.5 points and 1.8 rebounds in only 13 games out of a possible 46 games played.

I dunno. this is like Ariza drama part two but not with the salary but PT.

his agent should've kept his mouth shut. LA doesn't care. there's a plethora of talented FA wings next summer.

Dead issue already, Dev was given 4 chances as a starter then got some more as a rotation guy.....he failed. His agent will be lucky if he's on any roster next season.

The SF free agent market isn't that deep this summer but the Lakers SF rotation will be very different next year my hope is they amnesty Artest and let Ebanks walk but they resign Barnes and sign and trade for Beasley. Barnes would start because he's better on defense and have Beasley be a scorer of the bench with Eyenga being the third SF on the roster.

I hope he leaves. I guess Mike Brown wants to continue the practices of Phill Jackson. For all the times that MWP has stunk it up on the court, there is No reason, no excuses why this young fella hasn't seen scrub minutes at the very least to the point of even DNPing game after game after game.

I thought he started the season ready to surprise Laker fans. He was hitting shots and showing good effort.

I guess LA is starting to become death grounds for rookies. If you have any reasonable potential (which you will because despite us always giving away firsts, and Mitch drafts damn well in second round), pray to God that you don't get drafted by Lakers... and if you do get drafted, leave and leave at your first chance.

I disagree with you guys. I'm curious about the definition of fail. How many games does MWP have to stink it up before we consider him a fail? Or how many years does fish have to ruin our family gatherings before we consider him failing... or how many games does jeremy lin have to compile turnovers before he gets benched? The point is if you're gonna give a guy a chance like a starting spot on the LAKERS, he must have been doing something damn good and if he continues to get consecutive DNPs over and over after so few games them something is awkward there... Anyway... like i said, i thought he showed good effort and i think he should leave.

I'm sure if him starting gave us the best chance to win then he'd start. You see Fisher isn't here anymore, Metta's only here because you can't amnesty players during the season.

Whether he deserves to play or not doesn't matter. How dare you have the audacity to threaten your employer, especially when you're only in your second season.

Well....

Considering Barnes is a FA after the season,

Metta is amnesty-worthy (it would save the Lakers ~$30 mill) and

Devin is a FA

What the hell are we going to do about the SF position???

Ebanks should have been given more of a chance, considering Metta has been pretty awful (like Fisher) for most of the year.

you know what you're gong to get from Matt, consistent energy and hustle. from Metta, he at least makes an effort to defend even if he's not on. he still has that "I may not score but I won't let you score either." mentality that I like about him.

Devin is painfully inconsistent. it's just basically hit or miss. even if he's contributing for a couple of quarters, he then gets lost and makes questionable decisions on the court.

At least Ebanks can throw down lobs and move his feet, two things Artest cannot do - two things I expect out of a Small Forward.

How is that relevant to any point I'm making? I call it like I see it.

My username comes from a hat Artest wore when he became a Laker.

I don't really care about your points, I'm just making an observation.

So your name comes from a hat Artest wore, your avatar is Artest, yet you don't like Artest?
