Ramon Sessions is a great pickup

Post#1 » by TruSkool » Thu Mar 22, 2012 4:40 am

He has the caliber to single handedly turn the lakers into a serious contender. LAL hasn't had 2 guards who can get to the lane at will at the same time in so long. its great to see sessions and kobe go to work with the ball in their hands.
also, when was the last time our PG averaged 7 dimes a game? ramon sessions seems like an impeccable fit.
on the flip side, his J can improve a bit. his defense is decent enough for us.

He was a beeeeeeeast today but I won't go overboard with it. Mike Brown needs to start this guy next game if he wants to be considered sane.

I love it. Most people on this board kept saying he's not worth a first round pick and how much you'd rather have Augustin. Fantastic pickup and I hope Lakers commit to him in the summer. Sessions can really make this team a threat to win it all.

How do you guys feel kobe's doing off the ball. it seemed like a lot of the times he just stood there while sessions dribbled in and out and then passed to him with about 5 seconds on the clock. he didnt really call for screens or anything to get open unless he was looking to control the ball.

The offense calls for the wings to spread the floor. Kobe wasn't lacking for shot attempts today, but after Ramon Sessions came in the variety and the type changed dramatically.

him coming off the bench to play 2nd and end the 4th is perfect. I really dont give a crap how bad he is on d (hes not bad imo) his ability to score at will is awesome, his speed creates shots for himself and others with ease. He knows how to move the ball and finds the open man and he makes ft's! he is a lil general on the floor that plays with poise under pressure.

He looks so good. I just hope the Lakers give him fair value next year. Or he will be with another team. Pay him or he will test free agenecy.

ive told you if Sessions really worth 1st round pick. There is no pg better than him in the draft. No Kendall, no Rivers... & we need to win now, not wait for next year.

This is kind of OT, but can someone tell me where I could find stats such as catch-and-shoot three point stats (assisted threes)? It seems like Kobe does a great job making his threes when he spots up, rather than when he isolates. This is kind of related because Sessions can basically make Kobe a floor spacer when he penetrates, which in return makes up for his own shooting issues (or lack there of based on tonight :) ).

Either way, Sessions has been everything I expected and more. He needs to play 34-35 minutes a game. He is streets ahead (Community reference) of blake, plain and simple. Brown needs to stop acting like the talent difference is Fish-Blake, or Farmar-Blake. Sessions can be a tier 2-3 point guard in this league, and I think Brown is smart enough to give him his chances.

I could even make the argument that the big 4 of Sessions, Kobe, Bynum, and Gasol is better than Bynum, Kobe, Gasol and Odom. Not necessarily because I think Sessions is a better than last year's Odom, as Lamar averaged 15-10 off the freaking bench. But you have to keep in mind:

1. Our current big 4 can play on the floor at the same time, while the old one couldn't.
2. Bynum now > Last year's Bynum, not necessarily because he improved dramatically over the summer, but because he got more minutes and experience due to Lamar being gone. We wouldn't have the current Bynum if Lamar was still on this team, even if he was still producing at last year's rate (which is doubtful)
3. With last year's big 4 we had 2 weak positions, but with this years we only have one. And with the improved play of Barnes, that last weak position has even improved, and I think that is largely due to the presence of a damn good point guard

We aren't favorites right now, even in the West. We still have glaring issues as evident by the two games we lost before this. We still lack consistent outside shooting as of right now. Despite all that, I think we could win a championship this year depending on when we peak, and the addition of Sessions will ahve everything to do with that.

TLDR: Sessions is awesome!

It also depends on who the team faces. San Antonio is a nasty matchup for OKC with their floor spacing. If you can drag Ibaka out of the paint and make Perkins irrelevant that team is in trouble defensively.

I didn't want Sessions only for his J but everything else he does is damn good for me. seeing him now perform and stick to his strengths, just wow. he knows what to do ala Rondo.

when was the last time Kobe played with a young, quick, athletic, smart PG? never. and nobody say Smush. :nonono:

Kobe acknowledges ballers and respects them. Sessions is one heck of a player when utilized correctly. I guess it's all on Kobe to adjust.
