Free Agency: Lamar Odom
Do you guys think the Lakers and Odom will come to an agreement to sign for the vets Minimum?

Re: Free Agency: Lamar Odom
My gut tells me someone will pay him more than the vet minimum and therefore he won't be a Laker.
Not sure who, but just a feeling...
I feel like, much the same way his talk with Rose lit a fire under him, Kobe's little talk with Odom last night is going to turn his season around. I think there's a chance that by playoff time, Odom could be on fire again.

Doubt it, if he wants to come back to LA I can see him going to Clippers as they can offer him more money.

Sure, why not if we can't get a quality backup big.

he needs to get his act together. i'm sure many teams would want him for more than the minimum if he gets it together. i dont know how easy that will be for him though

For cheap yes. For moar, no. Don't see the Buss spending more than they have to especially if they want to the roster to get younger.

Re: Free Agency: Lamar Odom
You give it up when the guy is one of the best PFs in the history of the franchise, which he statistically is.
Odom and Fisher will both return next summer. They will meet at stable with Kobe, Mitch, Jim, Jerry, and Jeanie and pop outles and break bread as their plan worked. The two loyal soldiers acted as Trojan horses perfectly to derail OKC and Dallas. They each even got buyout money and practiced their minutes being limited without hurting the team. Lamar will come back for the mini MLE and 3rd big role as we let Hill and Murphy go. Derek will come back for the vet min and to be Ramon's backup as we amnesty Blake.
Then it shall all be clear. We **** stern and the league from day one. We wanted them to veto the Paul deal, so we could trick Dallas into breaking up their core and using their TPE and pick for odom. We wanted to find a young stud pg while keeping Pau. Lamar did us the solid. How else do you think Pau suddenly knows all Dirks steps? He almost let it slip when he said "you guys got your hand full" to the Mavs players, but we did damage control through the Kardashians publicist kobe was accused of banging.
Derek is now doing his part. He got Houston to pay him his money. He gets to watch Westbrook, Durant, harden, and their habits up close. He gets to plant a seed that Brooks has no idea what winning is about, he also gets to adjust his body so he can know how to be an effective 10-15 minute backup pg.
Both left their homes and did nit sell them. Both kept their jerseys in the closet. Don't be fooled they still bleed forum blue and gold and will do what it takes to make sure we stay on top. Even if it means wasting a half year in another city. They made the deal, they will laugh, and they will retire Lakers.

Re: Free Agency: Lamar Odom
It's a very good possibility if he comes very cheap.
They will sign a legitimate backup big this summer.
Odom could come for next to nothing or Beasley could come for about half the TPE.
I think those wil be the choices.
My gut tells me that they'll turn the page on Odom and go after the younger, more dynamic Beasley.
Now if Beasley's asking price is to high, Odom will be Plan B.

Re: Free Agency: Lamar Odom
Offering him the vets minimum would be an damn insult. This guy is one year removed from being the 6th man of the year. We know exactly what he brings to the table for the Lakers, and his value is a lot more than that. I don't know the details of the new CBA, but if we have the MLE, then we need to offer that, or at least a good portion of it.
Look, we don't have a quality 3rd man for our FC rotation as of right now. Odom is an excellent rebounder (one of the best at his position), as well as a decent shooter and playmaker. He has chemistry with our core players and is yet another friendly face for Kobe to look at. He knows how to play well with both Pau and Bynum and has championship experience, and that makes him a proven commodity.
Forget what he's doing in Dallas. Anyone with half a brain could have predicted that he would struggle given his style of play and who he'd be playing with over there. Hell I said as much after the Mavs acquired him. He would provide FAR more value for the Lakers than he would any other organization, and that's all that matters to me. If he's available, we need to make a strong push to get him back here. I'm not concerned about where he's at mentally right now. He'll be just fine once he's back in P&G. If nothing else he'll look at this whole experience as a big fat wake up call to how good things were before he got himself traded, and being back in a familiar environment can revitalize him.

BTW, if we do get Odom back, then I would get rid of "Dead Weight Blake" via amnesty and let Odom do all the ball-handling/play-making for the 2nd unit.

Felt all along Odom would be back in a Laker uniform somehow...Once the Mavs buy him out before June 29th, fully expect him to be back.

I honestly think L.O would of never performed like the way he is playing now if he was still on our squad.
He has no motivation out there. In L.A he had Kobe, Phil, and Fish pushing him daily to strive for greatness.
Dallas plays alot off the pereimeter while we play to our bigs as we pound the paint more often. Instead of jacking up non stop jumpers all day like the mavs. Plus there defensive sets are horrid. Take away Jason Kidd who practically anchors the defense as their point guard mentally and a Tyson Chandler who already bolted out of there you got a team who gets knocked out in the first round by a 8th seed matt barnes warriors team.
Long story short, L.O is out of his element in Dallas.
If he comes back I think he definitely would bounce back to the Lamar we all know about.
