how to make LAL even better?

well, since our 2 weakest positions were PG and SF, LAL brought in sessions and improved the PG spot.
I say they somehow get rid of artest and/or barnes for a young and legit SF....say iguodala? gay? granger? any chances of us getting a SF of that caliber?
it would probably put our team over the top, but I'm a wishful thinker.

Darius Morris developing into a decent backup PG, Goudelock becoming his running mate, and Hill producing quality minutes at PF/C would be great for the bench over the next year or so.
As far as a starter look for a Walton-->Sessions like swap of players. Perhaps Marvin Williams out of Atlanta.

Any of those 3 would easily put our team over the top, but we have 0 ability to get any of them without creating a hole at another position.

The chances of getting an Iguodala, Gay, or Granger are astronomically low. Unless one of the bigs is getting traded for said player.

Look underrated. The Lakers won't make a deal for a big name unless it involves Gasol.

And I said what you just said in my post. And as far as comparing a Sessions deal to a potential Williams deal, you can't. I thought the objective of the game was to save money, we did that by getting rid of Kapono/Walton. How are we supposed to save money with a potential Sessions extension looming and pay a bust of a player in Marvin Williams $23 million?

Money would be going the other way...
Martell Webster for the mini-MLE or Sam Young are also candidates. Don't need much, just a fifth option that can play aggressive D and shoot 3s while running in transition. Webster has shot consistently in the high 30s throughout his career from 3 and has improved as a defender. He'd be fine just running to the corner, spreading the floor (low ego player).

I think if there was ever a time to go after Iggy it was last offseason. Doug Collins loves Lamar Odom and if LA pushed hard enough maybe they could have gotten Iggy by trading Lamar and fillers. I would love him on the Lakers but there is no way they can get Iggy without trading Bynum or Gasol.
I think the best way for the Lakers to improve the Lakers overall is by improving the bench. The Lakers tried for Beasely at the deadline so I think they might try to explore that option again this summer.

I just had a problem with the Williams suggestion, that's too much money and not enough player.

As for the Webster suggestion:
- Reason I suggest Webster is that the SF next year has to be able to run in transition, shoot efficiently in the half court, be a role player, be able to cut off the ball, set screens, and be able to guard SFs as well as SGs.
Hopefully Minnesota lets him go as he'd be a Rick Fox like addition for the Lakers.

Trade Blake for a 2nd round pick. Resign Barnes who has played very well lately and has good chemistry with Sessions. Then make another run at Beasley to be our 6th man and provide some scoring off the bench. It's unlikely that he would sign for the mini-MLE so trade the TPE and a 1st round pick to get him. While amnestying Metta is an option I'd keep him for at least next year as the new luxury tax doesn't take effect until 2013/14. After next season the tax changes and you could amnesty him then or try trading him as he will be an expiring contract. While he is not the same player he used to be offensively his defense is still very good and defense wins championships.

Bryant/Goudelock
MWP/Barnes
Gasol/Beasley
Bynum/McRoberts

I agree with Jet, chances of getting Iggy, Gay or Granger are pipedreams. Those guys command high salary, getting one would mean shedding Gasol no questions asked.
But staying in reality.......it's not happening period.

apparently we've thrown out all attempts of being realistic.
also, marvin williams sucks.

before the trade deadline should have traded pau for garnett's expiring made our run this year with kg instead of pau. amnestied kobe in the summer.
taken our 28m cap room, signed deron williams and one of batum, beasley, wallace or mayo.
stil do the sessions deal try and resign him and kg to small deals so our starting group next year looks like.

nothing, the point is no one is going to take on blake and mcbob's salary without being compensated, and the lakers already used their 1sts to dump walton/fisher.
edit: to be fair, perhaps someone would want mcbob by himself since he makes such a small amount. i don't think dumping him on his own would be a priority though. he'd be expiring anyway.
