The official are you open to Starbury thread

He leads a bottom dweller, the Beijing Ducks, to a great regular season record, past his former team (scoring 50 pts in the deciding game) in the conference finals, and defeats the Dragons, a team that has won 4 straight championships and been to 10 straight CBA finals.

In the five game series, against the CBA powerhouse Dragons, Marbury averages 33 pts / 6 assists / 4 rebounds / 3 steals, true MVP stats (MVP award only given to Chinese players)

Transformed his team into a winner, has been offered a coaching job when he retires, fans love him...let's show this guy some love.

Congrats Starbury!

I know we already have to many egos, but seriously the season is already lost and we all know how we feel a bout Blake so why not? how can we get this cancer to finish the season with us?

Don't like it, good for him but reminds me of Iverson too much. Still wants to be the star of the team knowing it's time to give that up. We already got one of those on our hands

Why would he want to come back to the NBA? Don't get it. He seems to love it there, this isn't a lockout story.

Also wtf, does that say only Chinese dudes can win MVP or what

If he's willing to help our bench out, then hell yes. Blake being the 3rd PG will make our 1 spot deep. But knowing Mike Brown and his dumb line ups I'm sure Marbury will be a 3rd string PG with little to no playing time.

I recall how mentally dysfunctional Starbury was when he was with the Knicks. Then he had his time in Boston and looked done after that.

Having won in China where the talent is a huge drop off compared in the NBA, it should be expected for former NBA players winning in other leagues.

I think the Lakers are better suited to have Sessions for now.

Okay I see where you are coming from now.

So I ask, do we have to solve a problem by creating another problem?

isn't that what we did when we traded Fish. The chemistry between the players and coach has become a problem since Fish left. we knew chemistry ish would happen, but it is visibly out of control now.

If chemistry is an issue, I would have to put that more so on the coach and the team captains. Its up to Kobe and Gasol to lead this team now. Having a mental case in Starbury won't solve that.

Fish is a great leader and there was a reason why the Lakers wanted him back. He was able to talk to the players and instill trust with one another when they obviously didn't see eye-to-eye with Mr. Potato Head and the staff.

Bring in Starbury would not solve any of the chemistry problems. You have to have someone that the players respect and can express it properly for them to follow.

Back to Blake. He plays a minor role. That can be easily filled with a back up point guard that I hoped Morris could have provided. Apparently, that didn't happen. Morris sucks, and we are stuck with Blake for now. Coach Brown didn't find his Gibson in either Morris or Goudelock. :x

Honestly, the Lakers had a chance to add Arenas in during the trade deadline. I'm not sure how he is doing in Memphis, but talent wise, Arenas would have been better than Blake. But considering the history of problems plus the mental issues Arenas has, I'm sure the FO didn't want to take that gamble.

Problems and flaws will always come up. It's simple to me that Marbury won't fix any of that. It's up to the coach and ffs Kobe. :nonono:

I think you misunderstood what I meant. you said do we have to solve a problem by creating another. I was pointing out that we already did that. we gave up chemistry stability by getting rid of Fisher to solve the problem of Sessions getting starter minutes. by bringing in starbury we create the problem of bringing in a cancer to solve the problem of the blake suckyness. we could have had Arenas, but we missed that boat. not many choices left.

He did find his Gibson in Goudelock. Brown is just too stupid to play him
