Trade Bynum

***NOT A KNEE-JERK REACTION***
Hear me out.
We have 3 all-stars and not enough depth:
1 - Kobe Bryant
2 - Pau Gasol
3 - Andrew Bynum
- Kobe is untradable because a. he's Jim's cash cow; b. his contract is awful and c. he's a franchise player with a no-trade clause.
So that leaves us with Gasol and Andrew.
Gasol's value couldn't be more low that it's right now. We wont get anything for him and he's 30-ish on a big contract.
So yeh, considering we shouldn't sell low our only Trade Asset is Bynum.
He's only 24yo and has been healthy throughout the past 2 seasons. Also he just had his best year ever as a pro. His value simply couldn't be more high. Also there's a sense, justified or not, that Bryant is holding him back.
Plus there's a lack of talented centers in the league;
So yeh, a team will surely overpay for him and I'm talking about a sign and trade here.
Not sure Jim will ever let Bynum go and I'm not blaming him for our loss to OKC, in fact I didn't expect us to finish 3rd and with a bit of lucky on game 2 away to make it a series against OKC.
Also I'm not saying we'd win if we traded Bynum but that's our only chance. Kobe got 2 years left on his albatross so tanking/rebuilding isn't a option.
If anyone have a better idea than please post here because trading gasol on his value right now will only keep us a mediocre team.
Trade?

Lakers are clearly lacking a good 3-point shooting point guard.
Lakers get: Andrea Bargnani
Jose Calderon
Raptors get: Pau Gasol
Jordan Hill (maybe)

Aki, do you think we could contend by adding Dragic? Vecause Gasol for Scola is a big downgrade. His D is worse, he have a shorter range than Pau(and he'll need it playing with Bynum - let's not forget this), can't pass like Pau and doesn't rebound as well as Pau.
This is the type of Trade I mentioned above that would keep us "mediocre". It accomplishes very little because kobe will be one year older so a team that could win this year probably wont next year. Unless Kobe does other things in Germany.

after what pau's offering now? what we need are mobile PFs that can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim, also knowing how to set screens and play 2 man games would be beneficial to brown's system
we also need to amnesty world peace, if not now then amnesty blake, we need more athletic guards/wings and these last 2 years have proved it beyond a doubt
its time for this team to have a new identity, and we need the runners we had during our title runs (farmar, sasha, shannon), theyre light years quicker than blake and MWP, and at least you could get 35% 3pt shooting from them as well

I wonder if Phila would trade Iguodala for Gasol.. probably not...
We really need shooters... I heard Chicago might put Korver on the block

This is a big gamble but I would take it (no calderon, tho. I'd preffer Bayless plus a winger from the raps) over Aki's trade proposal. At least it would be a hit or miss trade. Either bargnani comes here and starts rebounding well and shooting well (the latter I have no doubt) or we suck and then rebuild...
By trading gasol for scola/dragic in the best possible scenario we'd be slight better (if that).
Anyway, I'm not sure Colangelo would trade Bargnani for Gasol on his lowest point. Bargnani is to him what Bynum is to Jim Buss.
That's why I insist that we can't trade Gasol right now. If anything keep him for 4 months and trade him at the deadline.

Aki, are you referring to Scola on the bolded part? Scola is not mobile and I don't ever know if he got a dunk this season. Back in the day he was a "tricky" low post player, lots of up and unders, lots of ball fakes, etc, and he can get some points there but nowdays for the most part he's simply a pick and pop player.
On the second part I agree. We DEFINITELY need a guy that can **** set GOOD SCREENS (FML!). We have the only bigs that don't use illegal screens in the entire NBA.
Yeh, we need depth, and all that but as I said our only true asset is Bynum.

As a Bulls fan,I can see that y'all have the same issues............the cap and the lux tax.I don't know what Buss is gonna do...........amnestying the seven footers makes no sense, maybe the Bulls can work something with the Lakers.......since DRose is gonna miss most of the season and since the Bulls are in re tooling mode,
the Bulls are most likely will be getting rid of Brewer,Korver and CJ Watson. They are seeking 2nd picks. There is also a rumor that the Bulls are looking to trade Deng.

Bynum for LA and Oden?
Pick Odom back up?
Court Steve Nash into coming?
I think our biggest problem is that we have a bunch of unmotivated players. Bynum has nothing to play for; he has 2 rings, money and he's still young/immature. I love his numbers and his personality but his attitude is just garbage and doesn't benefit the team.
I don't know why we didn't pull the trigger on Gasol for Rondo. Rondo + Bynum would've been a deadly 1-2 punch. Still could have done D.Fish for J.Hill and had him fill Pau's spot.
All in all, David Stern denied us a championship, straight up, but there's no crying over spilled milk, only cleaning it up. Hopefully someone will want to trade for Pau's expiring contract to free up some money on their team, that's probably the most attractive thing about trading for him.

Bulls would be a good trade partner somehow but I think neither team is willing to take risks on a big trade so it wont work.
Just a warn: Lakers fans have allergy with the word booz*r so please don't mention that word unless you want to kill us.

He'll never sign with the Lakers. Not his mentality. Still, I'm not sure he would work here.
Gasol pick and roll with him would probably be good but Gasol doesn't set good screens, neither Bynum.
plus, bynum is a liability defending the PnR. so teams would make us pay by putting nash and bynum on high pick n rolls all the time.

Bynum for Aldridge + Matthews + 11th pick is an interesting trade idea. Portland can pick a PF with the 6th pick like Sullinger and throw out: Bynum-Sullinger-Batum-Williams-PG with Deron, Nash or Dragic signed to be the PG.
Lakers could go Gasol-Aldridge-MWP-Kobe-MLE with Jordan Hill, the 11th pick, Wes Matthews and Sessions on the bench. Get Terry, Lou Williams, Nash or Garnett to sign for the MLE (you are the Lakers and you play in L.A. You just need one millionaire to take a small paycut for the glory of winning) and find a new coach and you've got a team that might be able to beat the Spurs and Thunder over a long series.
