Lakers Rumors: T-Wolves Interested in Beasley Sign-and-Trade?

With the Los Angeles Lakers reportedly interested in making some moves during the off-season, there have been many names thrown around as people are trying to determine who they may or may not be interested.

One name that surfaced near the trade deadline last season was Minnesota Timberwolves forward Michael Beasley, who the Lakers were reportedly close to acquiring. Now, more reports have come out that the team is once again interested in the former number two overall pick. And, it also seems that the feels are mutual.

According to sources close to the Timberwolves organization, Minnesota General Manager David Kahn told team owner Glen Taylor that the team was interested in pursuing a sign-and-trade with the Lakers in July.

One name that the team is reportedly interested in is Jordan Hill – the backup big man who played well for the Lakers in limited minutes since being acquired from the Houston Rockets in March.

Beasley could help the Lakers’ small forward position, where they had some issues last season. With Matt Barnes not expected to return and an uncertain future facing Metta World Peace, expect the Lakers to consider this option if Kahn and Minnesota indeed come calling.

Don't know if I'd give up Hill for him. Hill did extremely well this postseason and his services could be used again IMO

You could add this rumor into a even bigger Pau to Minny trade rumor thats been out there maybe the Wolves will throw in Beasley, Williams, Webster and if possible the Brad Miller contract. My question about Beasley, is he a 3 or a 4? it seems to change from analyst to analyst I think the same could be said about Williams also. But a trade like this would give the Lakers 3 very good young players with lots of upside.
Lakers Roster in this Scenario
PG. Sessions, Blake, Morris
SG. Kobe, Webster, Goudelock
SF. Artest, Williams, Ebanks, Eyenga
PF. Beasley, McRoberts
C. Bynum, Hill

That's a bit steep for the Wolves...only because Pau is still owed a ton of cash, and ultimately, he's not a massive upgrade to Pekovic. Had he played better this year or be younger, I'd change my tune on that...but one of those guys is on the upswing, and the other is not. If you threw in Ebanks and took Darko instead of Miller, I would do a deal if I were Kahn
Pau+Ebanks for Williams, Beas, Webby, and Darko?

Pau is an upgrade in every way to Peckovic the only issue is if Pau's on that Wolves team he'll play center which isnt his natural position but with Peckovic as his backup he'll be good. Lets say this trade is likely they're maybe no need to add a Milicic or a Miller contract depending on how much Beasley gets in his new contract since he's an RFA

I think Hill is an unrestricted FA, so he is not ours to trade. I like him, but another team will likely come calling with more $$$ than the Lakers will spend on him after he showed his rebounding prowess down the stretch of the regular season and playoffs.

Taylor (Wolves Owner) basically vetoed Beasley trade to the Lakers at the deadline this past year. I'd love to see the Lakers add Beasley with their TPE, but that would likely mean absorbing significantly more luxury taxes. I also think it would take a future first round pick to the Wolves to get this done, which I'd be fine with.

If the Lakers cannot get the deal they want for Gasol and are willing to add more salary to try and win one more with Kobe, a few other additions I'd like to see in addition to Beasley, would be:

Chauncey Billups at the veterans minimum. Offer him the starting PG position to try to get him to play for that salary. His bball IQ and size at the point would be a nice addition. He could also play some minutes at the two assuming Ramon Sessions opts in (I think he will; who is going to give him a multi-year deal averaging more than that until he could show that he can start for a whole year and perform better in the playoffs?).

I think Nick Young might entertain signing with the Lakers for the MMLE. He would add scoring and athleticism off the bench, allowing Kobe to play some at the three and posting up while also reducing his regular season minutes and having more for the playoffs.

Lastly, Darnell Jackson for the league minimum. He has played for Brown before and knows his systems offensively and defensively. Jackson sets a mean pick and is a scrapper inside who will rebound well on the defensive glass. He's not a scorer, but on this team, you wouldn't want him shooting much, unless he's dunking off a pass.

Farmar wanted to start, if he could've started for he would've stayed. But that obviously just wasn't going to happen.

Man I knew teams would start asking for Hill. Can't blame them though. I want Beasley here but I really want to keep Hill.
