According to Marca, Ettore Messina leaves Lakers for CSKA Moscow while Zeljko Obradovic leaves PAO for Anadolu Efes. Lets see what happens

I thought he was going to at least stay one more season with a normal 82 game schedule.

For those who don't know who he is:

I'm sure a coach of his resume doesn't want to be an "assistant" to someone far inferior.

He took the Moscow job. Looks like Quinn Snyder is leaving too. Mikey has some work to do!

I'd like to have seen him stay, but can't blame him. Nothing like your own gig and I'm sure the $$$ is better with a lower cost of living.

I don't see how Jordan could hire Quinn Snyder as an NBA head coach. I happen to like Snyder, but he does not have the name cache Jordan needs. It would be a PR disaster for the Bobcats.

I'd like to see Michael Cooper on the Laker bench as an assistant. Hope Coop gets an interview.

I'd like to see old 80s Coop back on the Lakers PLAYERS bench. 8-)

Sucks to lose Messina and possibly Snyder as well but it makes me wonder, are the Lakers not trying to retain these guys for certain reasons? Could this mean Mike Brown is getting the axe?

enter the saboteur? I don't think Mike would be foolish enough to have Shaw or even Rambis waiting in the wings.

the saboteur  I highly doubt Shaw would even consider coming here, he seems to like Indiana. As for Rambis, man forget that. Get me Jerry Sloan before some other team gobbles him up, we already missed out on Adelman

So lemme put my tinfoil hat on for a minute...
At one point in the Phil Jackson to Orlando talks, Phil was indicated as being 'No longer interested because of another opportunity.'
Could PJ actually be coming back in a FO role and bringing Pippen and Shaw along for the ride?

I'm fully aware that's somewhere between highly unlikely and plain bat-sh*t crazy... But I'll throw it out there to ease the monotony... And so that if it happens I can look internet cool.

ew Pippen, dude do you remember him and Kobe? Pippen would elbow Kobe in the ribs when Kobe was all taped up, I don't like Pippen much, never did though I do respect his game, was really a beast especially in Jordan's absence. Still, I don't like him here in LAL, however I do like the idea of PJ in the FO though I don't know how the Buss family will let that happen (minus Jeannie of course)

The Ramones did an album with Phil Spector producing... Supposedly, during one of those sessions Phil pulled out a gun and kinda held them hostage for a while.
Phil had a thing about pulling guns on people... He did it all the time.

I'm taking no stand either way about whether or not the scenario would work... Just that it's an idea that could maybe happen...

Frankly, I've always been in the 'Pippen's over-rated' camp... But that's just me... Great competitor... But I'm not sure he deserves all the credit he gets.

That's insane man, Phil Spector's story is very interesting, dude is a genius in the studio. Sad to see things the way they've ended for him but still, great quote man 8-)

Elbowing in the ribs ???? Cuz that's basketball... back when men played the game , you had to give a little jab before you go up for rebounds , when you're posting up and want to shoot a fadeaway etc ... He learnt that from MJ ..... You hate Pippen because he wanted to school a young Kobe ?

Messina, in his interview, implied the Lakers were more or less a sinking ship...

Also, what's the upside of being an assistant coach of the Lakers? Possibility of a promotion? Oh yeah, ask Brian Shaw how that went.

Lol, Phil Jackson and Brian Shaw back to the Lakers?

Reality check: don't have to go too far back in history (say, one year ago) to see how The Lakers under Jim Buss don't want anything to do with Phil Jackson, in fact, dismissed B.Shaw because of the belief that Phil Jackson is a disease, and contagious.

Mike Brown is going to be the Lakers' coach for at least 2 more years, and based on how happy Jim Buss is with Mike Brown's performance, probably longer than that.
