Beasley scenario

Post#1 » by Stebo_SSK » Sat Jun 16, 2012 4:59 pm

How do you guys feel about a S&T for Beasley by trading Josh McRoberts? I like McBob's game and think he was underused by Brown even before Hill came on. Thoughts, views and opinions and if you think this move can be made...

how would it work logistically?

mcroberts makes 3 mil. how much do u think beasley's contract is going to be for?

anywhoo, it would mean the wolves actually want mcroberts, and i would send him over for nothing if that was the case even if a beasley s&t didn't work. use that cash to re-sign jordan hill.

I could see Beasley making 4-5 mil a year for atleast 3 years. True it does depend on whether or not McBob is going to be wanted. I do know that every PF they have outside of Love and if you count Dwill7 is coming off the books so he provides a need.

Sure on a team not named the lakers. Management isn't signing any player not named Deron or Dwight for more than 2 years...

You're right, they are keeping the books clean when 2014 comes around.

I agree with dock, although I thought we weren't going to re-sign jordan hill (I'm assuming for the legal trouble)? I don't see why Minnesota would want McRoberts though. I don't see much happening sign and trade wise there unless they're our partner for Pau. After them dicking us around a bit in favor of Portland (iirc?) at the trade deadline, I don't see them helping us out unless they're actually getting a good deal back.

Beasley isnt a real PF, Dwill and Beas are gonna compete for minutes going forward and Beas seemed to have fallen out of favor with Adelman. Just my speculation is that they dont want him. Just a thought...

Adelman dislikes Williams more than Beasley, and has heavily criticized him over the season. The problem with Williams is that he's a true tweener without a position. He's way too slow to play sf and doesn't have the ball handling or shooting ability to play that position, and he lacks the size and post move to play pf and struggles to finish close to the rim despite his leaping ability. Whereas Beasley is almost as quick as Rudy gay and has the skill to play sf, and you can play him at pf for small stretches because he knows how to play in the post. They can't really compete for minutes with Beasley being the superior player, its makes as much sense as saying that Kobe and Goudelock are going to compete for minutes. The wolves main goal is to get Batum in free agency and move Wes Johnson to the bench, and then trade Williams for a shooting guard. The issue with Beasley is that he's going to get paid, otherwise they wouldn't mind keeping him.

McBob has really no trade value. Would be a total steal.

any value McRoberts had, Brown flushed it down the toilet for not playing him effectively. it's 50-50 though. one can argue he didn't show up when his number was called but some players need PT to be fully effective.

remember when Memphis wanted him for OJ Mayo?

McRoberts fills a need for the Wolves. he can play with Love or back-up Pekovic. Wolves may want someone with McRoberts to deal with us though. and it doesn't work financially if it's 1 to 1.

The Lakers will have at least one of the following three players still on the books for 2014, Bynum, Howard, or Williams...maybe even two of them.

Even if they do, they'll still have more flexibility than they do now.

I think the ship sailed in the postseason to land both. Had Pau played worthy of being traded for an all star player id like to see a 3 team trade but the only way we land D12 of Dwill is with Bynum and we must keep one of our bigs if we get Dwill and Pau is not getting us Dwill.

Would depend on how much Hill/Beasley get paid over the summer. I don't think the Lakers will take on Beasley if he's getting a large contract.

Minn is not taking Blake. They already have Rubio, Ridnour and Barea. Don't need a 4th pg.

What's a real PF anymore? That position is a tweener position these days.
