Kobe in 2011 vs. Kobe in 2012?

Which season do you think Kobe was better in, 2011 or in 2012? I feel like it was close but I may give an edge to 2012 just because he was much better in the post-season, at least it seemed like it.

2012 kobe was allen iverson esque, lowest TS% and efg% of his career yet led the league in usage rate.
no thanks to 2012 kobe.

Kobe's had some unfortunate injuries that have really hurt his efficiency.
The avulsion fracture is one. He should have never played through that. It might have taken two months to heal but so what.
And the start of this year he tore ligaments in his wrist and decided to play through that injury. Inhave no clue how he was as effecien as he managed to be with those injuries but he needs to quit proving he's he toughest guy around and let his dings heal up before he gets back on the court.
People that harp on Kobe's efficiency often fail to realize how dinged up he actually is out there on the court. He played for a year and a half with that bandage on his right shooting index finger.

His injuries don't explain the fact that he took the 2nd most shots per game of his career, if anything his volume should have gone down if he was that injured, but instead they skyrocketed.

Agreed but the offense was so bad this year and there were tons of times late in the shot clock where his choices were to shoot it or pass to an out of shape Ron Artest.

But how many of those shots were him having to bail out the team due to Mike Brown's terrible offensive scheme?

2012 Kobe was terribly inefficient.
Kobe still possess the most lethal combination of offensive moves in the game. However, we need to put him in better positions to succeed. Lesser one on ones and more off ball methinks should do wonders for him and our offense. Have him come off some quick hitters and elbow screens so he can get easy 15-18 footers or he can opt to pass it to our bigs. This would also limit double teams that usually result with tough contested shots.
Bottom line, we need an improve offense with a lot of ball movement. Pau, Ron, Ramon and Kobe are excellent passers. We need to utilize that.
Just my 2 cents.

It was really tough to watch Kobe during the 2012 season. I think there were more negative moments for me than positive moments with Kobe with season.

Well, I just hope 2013 brings a smart, efficient Kobe who helps the Lakers execute their offense better.
I do not think it a coincidence that it seems like DWill and/or Dwight don't want to come and play with Kobe. If they did, Bynum to Brooklyn would get DWill done and Dwight could force a trade to the Lakers for Gasol, filler, and picks if the Lakers agreed to also take Hedo's contract.
So, hopefully, Kobe gets some "team ball" momentum going with the Olympic team and brings it back with him to the Lakers this fall to play with whatever teammates he ends up having.

2012 Kobe was worse, the only upside was he seemed to move better after the knee procedure.

2012 Kobe with more of a 2011 mindset > 2012 or 2011 Kobe.'
Unfortunately, that hybrid was rare to see this season.

As much as I have loved and admired Kobe over most of his career, there were times where his stubborn play made me want to claw my own face off. But 2011 was the first time he piled up game after game of IDGAF, I am shooting win or lose. Step back jumper after another, miss after miss, loss after loss. Dallas sweeps Lakers.
Then 2012, ....more of the same in the regular season. Frankly, he disrespected the game and his teammates. We deserved to lose. Once you know what he is going to do almost every time he touches the ball, it takes the fun out of watching. A game of 1 on 5, vs the team concept approach is just not for me.

I know most Lakers fans don't believe in advanced stats but this hasn't been brought up... this past season, 2012 Kobe had an offensive rating lower than his defensive rating.. I can't think of any elite player who would be at that crap level

He was also #1 in OWS through 12 games and put up a 25 PER. More advanced stats.

In the playoffs? 3rd in PER to Lebron (Legendary 30+ PER in the playoffs) and Durant (27 PER).
No idea where you got your OWS stat from

Here we go again with the
"Let's **** on Kobe" posts again SMH!
When this is the only mofo who showed up in the playoffs.
An don't give me he didn't pass BS because he did.
The rest of the squad looked like some AAU ballers out there these past playoffs
Laker fans who are against Kobe and rather continue with the 8 year expierment Andrew Bynum to lead our team is from the same school as Jim Buss. Pathetic
Lakers fans who acknowledge Kobe's #'s and TS% and whatever meaningless stats haven't been the greatest but still knows that him being the leader is the best decision right now moving on foward ( with the right upgraded supporting cast of course) is more from the school of Mitch and Jerry. Championships!!!

He looked amazing at times in playoffs. Our team didn't have the juice and he didn't handle the clutch. IMO, Kobe is more of a stratagetic attacker now than a superhero esque closer. He can put up huge spurts of points in the 2nd and 3rd quarters mixed with his leadersup is extremely valuable. He just loses it in the 4th though.
