Rumors: Lakers trying to move Metta World Peace for a late first-round pick, also Pau Gasol to Wizards for #3 pick

Just moving Metta would be a godsend.

Sam Amico:
The Lakers are exploring all kinds of potential deals, having floated every name on the roster this side of Kobe Bryant. They are said to be open to trading Metta World Peace for a late first-rounder, with their eyes on Baylor forward Quincy Miller and Kentucky point guard Marquis Teague.

If the Cavs are able to move up and nab Beal at No. 2, there’s talk the Lakers would be willing to make life easy for the Wizards and help them move out of the third spot. It would likely take power forward Pau Gasol.

Nice finds. I just can't bring myself to start following the twitter feeds again after the Howard nonsense...

But if you keep turning this stuff up, I may have to. :)

Take it for what it's worth, as most trade discussions never truly come 2 fruition...Pau/Metta 2 GS for Lee/Jefferson/#7pick

In my humble opinion, unless that #7 pick is phenomenal, the 5 million saved Lee/Pau swap isn't enough to justify that deal.

It's clear we're trying to get a lotto pick throughout all of this. I just hope that Washington rumor transpires.

Washington would be getting a ton of long contracts(Nene,Okafor,Ariza,Gasol if true)

Surely they will try to dump at least Blatche with the pick

I thought of this earlier but dismissed it.

Lee's I believe, 29yo and on a 5yr/11m deal... I don't think that makes sense for us...

Plus, they have Bogut now, how would Pau work with him? It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Lakers would draft MKG not Barnes. Makes no sense to draft a chucking SF when MKG complements Kobe and Bynum a whole lot better.

Robinson could be something... He's an athletic PF.

Pau to Clev for Varajao/Gibson/#4 and take Robinson. If not Gibson, maybe take Thompson. Decent players in return, a lot of financial flexibility and we get younger.

Cleveland is young enough and don't have much in the way of star-power. Plus I think they might be getting close to the minimum salary.

Like Doc said, just a thought, not a prediction.

Especially if Robinson goes higher like Destro says below.

Robinson's more than likely going #2 overall if Charlotte doesn't trade their pick. But Robinson would be a terrific addition. A little raw on offense but has potential to improve, as well as already being a high motor and great defender of a player. It'll take years before the true verdict is out on Drummond, anyone that drafts him will have a project on their hands. But right now it's looking as if he'll be a certified bust.

But I have a hunch that we're not looking to keep the pick.

I like the idea of trying to combine Pau and MWP in a deal though. That would be awesome.

First I was like :o

Then I was like :D

Now I'm like

Cleveland is rebuilding. They have no use for Pau. None. Zero.

And to ask for Varaejo, #4, and maybe Thompson...

I think you are overvaluing Pau just a tad...

Fwiw, Okafor, Ariza and Gasol aren't what I'd consider long term contracts.

They all have two years remaining.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Now, Howard and Pau are the main targets for the Houston Rockets. Makes it interesting seeing as they have acquired 3 first round picks.

Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol are targets of Houston

The Houston Rockets have agreed to trade forward Chase Budinger to the Minnesota Timberwolves for the 18th pick in Thursday's draft, according to people familiar with the terms of the deal, setting up an even bigger deal for the Rockets.

The people requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly until the trade is official.

The Rockets are stockpiling first-round picks — the 14th, 16th and 18th — in Thursday's draft and could be packaging them in a trade.

Since center Yao Ming retired, the Rockets have sought an All-Star big man. Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard and Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol are Houston's main targets. Gasol was heading to Houston as part of the Chris Paul multi-team trade before last season that NBA Commissioner David Stern quashed.

Pretty sure that isn't true, but if it is then Houston has absolutely no idea what they're doing. You take on Pau and you have zero chance of signing Deron or even Josh Smith in the offseason. Which means you're getting rid of your main selling point to Dwight, which means he's certain to leave.
