LAL cut out of mowill/odom trade. utah/lac/dal/hou

Post#1 » by dockingsched » Wed Jun 27, 2012 4:17 am

http://espn.go.com/dallas/nba/story/_/i ... lamar-odom

The Los Angeles Clippers have engaged in trade discussions to bring Lamar Odom back to the L.A. team that drafted him, according to sources close to the situation.

Yet the deal, sources said, could hinge on the willingness of a third team to take on the contract of Clippers veteran guard Mo Williams, which would allow the Dallas Mavericks to send Odom to the Clippers with no significant money coming back to the Mavericks...

...Sources told ESPN.com on Tuesday that one team to express interest in Williams is the Los Angeles Lakers, who still have a trade exception big enough to absorb Williams' contract that they created when they dealt Odom to Dallas.

more info in the link, but this is the meat of it.

UPDATE

Dallas sends LO to Clps, Mo to Utah, draft rights of Furkan Aldemir go to Houston, Dallas gets Jazz trade exception and cash from Rockets.

noooooooice, I'd take Mo Williams for sure. With Sessions backing him up, we would be set at PG. Do it Mitch!

I could get on board with this, he'd be an expiring next season so we could probably move him if things didn't work out. He's a phenomenal fit next to Kobe though and brings much needed speed and three point shooting

Ya the spacing would be nice. Probably has something to do with not wanting to pay long-term for Sessions. He's a much better off ball fit than Session is.

Before anyone gets too excited:

2009 playoffs - 16.3 on 41% shooting
2010 playoffs - 14.4 on 41% shooting

I'd rather have that than 9.7 ppg on .377%FG(16% from 3) any day

I think there are better options... I like the fact the deal is short term but he is not a playmaker...

All I see is upgrade from what we are used to.

He can space the floor with his 3 point shooting which is exactly what we need from our PG. Would love him on the team.

This would be the best-case scenario, because we're getting a better PG than anyone currently on our roster for NOTHING!!

The guy has experience running Brown's system, and played in the Finals = more experience than any of our current PG's.

And at the end of the day, if Odom --> Williams, that's a good trade.

I'm not even sold on Lamar. Does anyone know where his head is right now, and his physical condition? Clippers would be tripping to give away Williams for nothing. After all, they traded a 1st Round Pick 2 years ago for him (which eventually became Kyrie Irving)

Also, the Clippers might just be dumb enough to do this right now, considering no one even knows who their GM is right now. (they were still looking, last I heard)

When did Moe play in the Finals??

That's one of the ideas.. Another is adding shooters.. Mo was a solid 2nd option under Mike Brown & I think he's an amazing fit for Kobe & Bynum.. He'd be good for 14 PPG while being the best 3 point shooter on our team.. I'm assuming we further take the ball out of Kobe's hands by getting a SF that can create shots for himself like Rudy or Iggy.. Either guy combined with more talent at PG will take the ball out of Kobe's hands.. Not as much as an elite PG but if we're stacked on the perimeter, we'll probably see Kobe moving back in the post more..

For the right price, as the lakers do not want to add a lot of money. TPE would be a good fit. Maybe then they buy a mid round 1st and then trade Pau to someone for more players.

How about Pau to Houston for the 14-16-18 picks, drop his contract and have some money for free agency...

i dont think we'll ever amnesty ron so using the tpe on somebody like ariza always seemed unlikely, but mo would be great especially if we trade for bynum and keep pau at the 4. That lineup requires 2 shooters next to Kobe, or really any lineup including dwight
